Neum is located on the Adriatic Sea and is the only outlet to the sea in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Although the coastline is said to be 24.5 km long, the straight-line distance of the coastline is only about nine kilometers, which can be walked on foot. The extra numbers are actually a very desolate peninsula in the sea, which is still miserably surrounded by Croatia. My postdoctoral friend M is Croatian. He laughed and said that Neum is basically theirs, which means that Bosnia and Herzegovina is a landlocked country.
