老爷山系马鞍山一山峰，位于大通县桥头镇东侧的北川河畔，是大通中部的一座主要山峰，面积约2.5平方公里。因山顶原有太元宫(即关帝庙)，俗称“老爷山”，又称“元朔山”、“北武当”。是西宁附近一座山势最为雄伟、风景最优美的山峰。其山势呈西北--东南走向，高差悬殊，主峰海拔2928米，相对高度达486.5米。

老爷山位于西宁市大通县东侧，又名北武当，距离西宁市区约45分钟车程。老爷山最大的特点就是山势陡峭，虽然只有海拔2928米，但楼梯特别陡，少点体力都支撑不住。但山上的植被众多，景色秀丽，山间还有古老的寺庙、建筑遗址参观，还可以远眺明长城遗迹和俯瞰整个大通城区，视野开阔，让人心旷神怡。这个景点多为当地人周末出游的选择，外地游客不多，我们是时间不够，正好选择了这里一游。
