Located in Toronto, Canada's largest city, it originated from King's College in 1827 (King's College). After nearly 200 years of vigorous development and academic spirit of intellectual rigorousness, it has become a world's leading public research university, and is also recognized as the first higher education institution in Canada's comprehensive strength. The University of Toronto’s main campus is the St. George’s Campus (UTSG) in downtown Toronto, with the other two campuses being the Scarborough Campus and the Mississauga Campus. As a small number of remaining colleges in North America, in addition to the regular structure, as many as 12 undergraduate colleges have different history and characteristics, with a large degree of independent financial and management rights.
