The most magical experience of my life – swimming with mantas. We’ve had an ocean all to ourselves and 6 mantas were circling us for an hour, until we’ve had enough because we’ve swallowed half of the ocean. This was definitely a highlight of our Indonesia trip and one of my favorite travel moments ever.

The Kelingking Beach on Nusa Penida has been very windy lately, and of course, it's also very beautiful (even on cloudy days the sea is very blue, which is beyond expectations), but personally, I think if you're short on time, there's no great need to make a special trip just for a photo op, for the following reasons: 🚗 Long travel time, basically spending the whole day on the road: It takes about 1-2 hours to get to the Sanur port from places like Ubud, another hour by boat to the island, and if you're only visiting the west line of the island it's not too bad, but going to the east side takes another hour or so. The roads on the island are full of potholes, making for a very uncomfortable car ride, and the return trip takes just as long. If you only have a few days off, it's really not worth wasting a whole day on transportation. 📷 Most people come to Nusa Penida just to take photos: From what I've observed, most tourists, especially from China, come to the cliffs of Nusa Penida just to take photos. Very few people actually walk down the cliffs (I myself only went halfway down, my old knees couldn't take it 😅), which makes the hours spent in transit seem even less worthwhile. So, it feels like if you're coming to Nusa Penida to snorkel or do other activities, it's fine, but just for photos, it seems not worth it. Moreover, the island is very hot, and although it's by the sea, there's hardly any breeze. We went on a cloudy day so it felt okay, but if it were a sunny day, the hike down would probably be scorching 🫠

100% worth visiting. don’t miss out! the journey to nusa penida wasn’t easy but the amazing scenery made it worth the long journey. we booked a tour online and early in the morning. a chauffeur came to pick us up at the designated pick up point. then we arrived at the jetty where we will wait for our turn to board the ferry to nusa penida. we arrived at nusa penida after a 45 minutes of boat ride. the driver in nusa penida then brought us to visit the famous Kelingking beach. Kelingking means scorpion in Indonesia and it’s named after the small island’s unique shape that resembles a Scorpio. there was a long staircase along the cliff and the view along the stairs was picturesque! there are a few more attractions beside the Kelingking beach though, if you have enough stamina, recommended to walk along the long stairs to discover the neighbouring beauty! then we took another 1 hour ride to visit the Broken beach and Angel’s billabong. these two spots are definitely the highlight of the trip. the views were breathtaking! #staycation #couplestrip #awesomepic #urbanexplorer #summervacation #naturalwonders #beaches #bali #balibeach #nusapenida

Crystal Bay is a stunning beach with crystal-clear waters. It is the perfect spot for sunbathing, relaxing, swimming and snorkelling in the area. The beach’s atmosphere is absolutely peaceful, it is not a touristic destination on the island. If you love snorkelling this place is wonderful. It has great coral reefs and marine life. It is very easy to see turtles and if you are lucky enough you might see manta rays. The only drawback in Crystal Bay is that it is not well maintained, and the shore is full of garbage. It is a pity because it could be the perfect paradise. Apart from that, Crystal Bay has a few local beach bars selling snacks, drinks and Indonesian food. If you consume something from the bar you can use the chairs and tables for free which is very convenient. One of the highlights in Crystal Bay are the sunsets. I experienced stunning sunsets the evenings that I went there. There are full of colours, they are totally magical!
