It is a temple of the Jodo Shinshu sect in a residential area, about 20 minutes walk from the north exit of Hiratsuka Station in the direction of Sagami River. After passing through the mountain gate, you will find the main hall in front of you. The roof of the hall 々 is impressive.
I stopped by when I visited Renkoji Temple (1 of the Seven Lucky Gods of Hiratsuka) in April. Shinfukuji is a Shinshu Otani school temple located about a 15-minute walk from JR Hiratsuka Station. According to the explanation in front of the mountain gate, Shinpukuji is the only Jodo Shinshu temple in the city, which is said to have been opened by Shakuzenshu (a priest of various countries) in 1525. In the Edo period, Terakoya was opened at Shinfukuji Temple, and in 1882 (Meiji period), Mairi Elementary School was established behind the main hall and developed into the current Matsubara Elementary School ...
