Huaqiangu Reading Town is located in the Shaoshan Lake area of Majinpu Street Office, Kunming High-tech Zone. When you walk into Huaqiangu Reading Town, you will smell the breeze and the fragrance of flowers. This reading town, which covers an area of 2,330 acres, has more than 200 large, medium and small gardens, and more than 100 kinds of exotic flowers are competing for beauty and blooming.
Huaqiangu Reading Town has built 11 kilometers of plank roads in the park, including the original forest health valley, Huaqiangu, and lakeside garden, as well as seven reading spaces, including the Forest Waterfront Bookstore, Western Restaurant, Tea Bar, Shaoshan Academy, Shaoshan Siheyuan, Dome Reading Space, CD Cafe, and Tea Experience Hall, providing readers with an ideal place for reading, learning, and communication.
The Shaoshan Library is under construction. The 999 stone steps symbolize the ladder of knowledge, leading from the center of Shaoshan Lake to the main building. The mottled moss marks show some vicissitudes of life. Stone statues of 68 historical and cultural celebrities such as Huangdi, Laozi, Confucius, and Mozi stand on both sides. Tonghui Bridge, the history of Chinese characters, the history of Chinese printing development, and the relief wall of the history of book collection bring people's thoughts back to the distant past.
Huaqiangu Reading Town not only has lush primeval forests, the sparkling Shaoshan Lake, the colorful flower garden, the Huaqiangu with singing birds and fragrant flowers, and the tranquil and detached reading pavilion, but also has the inscriptions "Lake and Mountain Scenic Spots", "Ten Thousand Volumes Manor", and "Shaoshan Library" by cultural scholar Yu Qiuyu; the inscriptions "Yi Yi Wen De" and "Cultural Source" by the famous writer Jia Pingwa, and the article: "The Ancient Dian Kingdom with Humanities, the Small Yingzhou with Mountains and Rivers"; the writer, painter, and educator Liu Yong, oil painter Chen Danqing, calligrapher Chen Zhenyuan and other masters have also visited the town, inscribed words and composed couplets, leaving behind many treasures of calligraphy.
The Forest Tennis Restaurant in the small town is shaded by green trees, with gurgling water, the air filled with the fragrance of books and flowers. Soft natural light shines in from the huge dome glass, and tens of thousands of books quietly nourish the readers. The ancient and modern, nature and humanity, food, beautiful literature and beautiful scenery are seamlessly integrated.
Chinese classical music echoes softly in the CD cafe. On the surrounding bookshelves, there are a wide variety of books on Chinese history, world history, the Belt and Road Initiative, and research series on Southeast Asian and South Asian countries. It is like a center for cultural exchange where people connect with each other.
