How can a church be shut?
2000 or so Cunard passengers descended on Messina on a unscheduled stop! So on MayDay some bright spark decided not to let anyone know - shops, museums, art galleries and this lovely church was shut.....
We headed up the hill to take a look from the port. Looks so shiny in the distance. What a shame it was closed though, would have loved to have gone inside.
The church is well located and due to its magnificent sizes it is visible from different parts of the city just from the streets, not necessarily to climb the hill or the bell to see it. Inside is quite ...

Beautiful and attractive
This is a beautiful church and it attracts you from afar with it's silvery domes. It was rebuilt after the earthquake.
