I thought it was parallel to the Tazawako Line in some sections, so I was looking at it all the time from the train window of the Akita Shinkansen. There are few places where you can actually see the flow of the river, and I could see it near Shizuki Station. Perhaps it was a seasonal pattern called midwinter, the amount of water was small and it was not a relaxing flow.
