Beihu Lake

North Lake Scenic Area is located in Sui County, Shangqiu City, Henan Province, also known as Fengcheng Lake, 68 kilometers west of Shangqiu City. It originated in the late Ming Dynasty when Li Zicheng replaced his troops with water and burst the Yellow River. In January 2015, Beihu was rated as a national 4A-level scenic spot, and it is the fourth national 4A-level scenic spot in Shangqiu City. The water surface area of North Lake is nearly 5,000 mu, and there are many historical and cultural relics in the scenic area. The famous ones include Song Xianggong Mausoleum, Ganju Spring, Peach Blossom Cave, and Su Shi’s Ink Place. In 2000, Beihu was approved as a provincial-level tourist attraction by Henan Provincial Tourism Bureau, and Beihu gave Sui County the reputation of "Central Plains Water City". In 1994, 1995 and 1996, the National Sports Commission successfully held the Henan Provincial Youth Rowing Games, the National Youth Kayaking Championships, and the National Kayaking Championships. Now Beihu has become a canoeing training base in Henan Province.
