Hankou Meiguo Lingshiguan Site

Many of the concession buildings in the Hankou Kaiyu period are distributed in the Hankou River Beach, many of which are very beautiful. The former site of the American Consulate in Hankou is one of them. The red building is very like a castle, beautiful against the lights.

The former site of the United States Consulate in Hankou is in Hankou River Beach Park. When I ride a bicycle, I pass by. It is great at night. It is brightly lit and magnificent under the light. It is very historical. Because it is a concession building, the style is great.

In April 1861, Hankou was established as the second month of the foreign trade port, the United States established a consulate in Wuhan. At the beginning of the opening, the museum was located in Hanyang. In 1905, with the completion of this red baroque consulate building, the United States consulate moved to Hankou. This 108-year-old old house, the main building is a three-story mixed brick structure, Linjiang main facade is made of three different buildings with different heights in a step-like stack. Three entrances, the largest arched door in the middle, are the main entrance, and the public hall is extremely high. The three-story exterior walls are all clean water red bricks, continuous semi-circular arch window doors, and each floor has a significant waistline. Impressive is that the facade is curved, forming a cohesive movement, rolling and stretching, and very fluid. The four-story octagonal tower at the corner of the two streets is like a medieval castle in Ouzhou. The whole building is lighter from bottom to top. The interior of the building is luxuriously decorated, the aisle terrazzo, and the wooden floor of the room are still intact. In December 1941, the Pacific War broke out and the consulate was closed until the resumption of the building after the victory of the Anti-Japanese War in 1945. The consulate was closed again in May 1949, when Wuhan was liberated. In 2008, the US consulate in Wuhan opened again, but the location of the consulate is no longer here, and it is now the Wuhan talent market.
