Hanwei Xudu Gucheng Relic Site

The Ruins Park of the Ancient City of Xudu in the Han and Wei Dynasties is located 18 kilometers southeast of the urban area of Xuchang. It was originally the capital of Xu State in the Western Zhou Dynasty. In the first year of Jian'an in the Later Han Dynasty (196 AD), Cao Cao welcomed Emperor Xian of the Han Dynasty and moved the capital here. In the past, Xudu was divided into two cities: the inner city and the inner city. The inner city was the imperial city, surrounded by nine miles and 129 steps. There were the imperial palace, the imperial garden, the prime minister’s residence, etc.; Wait. Cao Wei was one of the five capitals. During the Southern and Northern Dynasties, it was destroyed by the Northern Wei general Zhou Ji in the fire of war. At present, the outline of Kyoto at that time can still be seen from the ruins. There are multiple layers of rammed earth on the winding city wall, and there are a large number of Han bricks and Han tiles on the land of about 33,300 square meters above the ground level. Han wells and Han mills can be seen everywhere. Seals, arrow clusters, and currencies of the Three Kingdoms period have been unearthed. In 1986, a pair of four-god pillar foundations and a bluestone bucket were also discovered. It was concluded that these were the pillar foundations and components of the imperial palace. In the spring of 1987, the ruins of a copper casting workshop were discovered in Penli Village, Gucheng District, which shows the luxury and prosperity of Xudu.
