sculptorThe Temple of Olympian Zeus is a huge temple in the center of Athens, the capital of Greece. The construction began during the reign of the Athenian tyrants in the 6th century BC. They had envisaged the construction of the greatest temple in the ancient world, but it was not completed until about 638 years after the Roman Emperor Hadrian in the 2nd century AD. During the Roman period, this temple consisted of 104 huge pillars and was known as the largest temple in Greece and one of the largest cult statues in the ancient world. The glory of this temple was short-lived, and was abandoned about a century after the castle was built. In the centuries after the fall of the Roman Empire, building materials were widely excavated to supply construction projects elsewhere in the city. Despite this, a large part of the temple remains today, especially the sixteen of the original giant pillars, and it is still part of a very important archaeological site in Greece.

01234567890liIn history, the ancient greeks were the first to adopt the circular arc form in the construction of the stadium, the design not only makes sites appear smooth, fluent and beautiful, but also let the athletes on the premise of not influenced by any acute extended the runway. For the audience, the audience of this circular arc in the court of any seat also can well. Modern scholars believe, build the people of the Athena stadium must be inspired by the ancient Greek semicircle theater. In fact, today''s modern stadium notting have is not affected by the flood Athena stadium, plus ca change.

World Heritage Sites and top historic destinations for you! The late Maya Angelou once remarked, “History, despite its wrenching pain, cannot be unlived, but if faced with courage, need not be lived again.” It is precisely this fascination with what came before that inspired us to look at the world’s most amazing historic destinations. Temples and monuments to grand empires feature prominently in our list, poignant reminders that no matter how much we think the world around us fixed and constant, time erases all in the end. Athens Travel Tips

About Athens

Athens is a city that gets its name from the Greek goddess of wisdom - Athena. It is the birthplace of European civilization. Despite thousands of years of wear and tear from wind and snow, it still exudes a unique charm. When you go to Athens, you will have the opportunity to see great ancient temples and exciting marketplaces. The grandiose achievements of the centuries enshroud the city at every turn. Athens is surrounded on three sides by mountains. The last side faces the Aegean Sea. The city is built around the Acropolis. Even though the Acropolis has already endured 2,000 years of wind and rain, warfare and modernization, people are still shocked by the remaining, albeit damaged, temples. Take a stroll through historic Pláka and choose one of the many restaurants to indulge in some mouthwatering Greek cuisine.
