We like the fact that Solstice takes reservations. It limits the wait lists and hanging around that usually accompanies eating out along the Hood River waterfront. The pepperoni pizza we ordered was delicious, done right with the crust blackened just a bit. The salad was a bit more problematic. The special was listed as “tomato, prosciutto and Brie. It was good as far as it went, with a few slices of tasty heirloom tomatoes tossed in for good measure. Having indulged in many prosciutto/Brie delicacies over the years, I’m here to say there wasn’t even a hint of Brie in that salad. Chunks of bland mozzarella with a little salad dressing for disguise. I politely mentioned to the server that the cheeses may have been switched. He said, “nope, it’s Brie. Excellent breakfast and sandwiches! The smoked salmon burrito is incredible, and their hash browns and pancakes will make a favorable impression on even the seasoned traveler! This bistro was recommended to us by a shop owner. We are glad we went. We had the Fish and Chips made with Panko breadcrumbs and served with homemade tarter sauce and hand cut fries. We also had the Blacked Green Chile and Pepper Jack cheese, which was served on one of the softest, freshest buns ever. The service was great. The bistro has been owned by Chris and Stacy for 29 years and they are so personable and enjoy talking. We will definitely be going back there. Many great plantations are available for visiting in Charleston. Middleton Place should be near the top of your list if you want to see multiple ones. This is a gorgeous complex that showcases the unquestionable southern beauty of the city. The original Middleton Place was largely torched near the Civil War’s conclusion, and the Great Earthquake caused further destruction. What exists now is the Southern Flanker’s House Museum, which serves to educate on how people at Middleton Place lived, including slaves, astounding gardens, a great restaurant and shops, and more. You’ll step out of the present and into the wonders of the past when you’re here. Middleton Place is one of the most important places to see in Charleston for gaining historical awareness. Set in Portland’s downtown National Landmark First National Bank building, built in 1916, Expensify’s new offices reflect the company’s signature “choose-your-own-adventure” work setting. Since Expensify does not own the building, the design accounts for both the grandeur of the existing interiors and the realities of the lease term. . The main goal was to balance the space needs of the clients and the historical importance of the building by referencing the historic details and proportions. The brass was the bridging detail for this connection between contemporary and historical and made a significant impact via two brass-clad, glass-enclosed work spaces which dominate the central void.
