What travelers say:
Discreetly tucked away in a Stockbridge cellar, the Tiq has escaped hipsterisation and is unashamedly traditional in decor. It has a wide range of beers, though the real ales are down to two, sadly. The staff are friendly and immediately offered our dog water. The Sunday papers are on hand in one room, while sport is on tv in the other, which covers all the bases nicely. Where the Tiq really stands out is its brilliant Sunday lunch: as well as the burgers you can find during the rest of the week, there is a variety of roasts, including game, and an all day breakfast until 1500. My roast venison came with decent size roast potatoes, a Yorkshire pudding, mixed veg, and generous quantities of excellent rich gravy. My wife's cow pie had a proper suet top and came with chips she said were fantastic. Each was about £11, comparing favourably with most other places. I warmly recommend this super place: having lunched all over Edinburgh, this is where I keep coming back to for the best lazy Sunday experience and best value, tastiest food.
