The downstairs Gourmet area is well decorated and nicely put together. The food was well prepared, nicely assembled and richly arranged. However, a big minus for our visit was the disappointing, inattentive and moody waiter. In summary, an undoubtedly upper class food choice, but in total, we shall admit, we shan&lsquo;t return.

L'Atelier du Goût

Excellent dinner at this restaurant. Best mozzarella &amp; tomato salad ever &amp; the duck breast was also very good. Generous portions so no room for dessert, but good coffee to finish. Ambience a little  odd, but staff were friendly &amp; working hard.

Had a pleasant experience here. The food was excellent and the service was always available.

We read reviews when deciding which restaurant to go to while in Fountainebleau, and we were extremely satisfied!! The owner/waiter and the cook/waitress were the nicest couple. Our French is not very good, and they pleasantly helped us through the ordering process. I had the frog legs which were cooked and seasoned to perfection. The best I ever had. I also had the moules frites which were tasted as well. My wife had the vegan salad which she enjoyed. We shared the cafe gourmand which was a great selection and presentation. I highly recommend this to any customer. We would definitely go back!!

This restaurant exceeded all expectations.  Our 3 course meals plus an amazing &lsquo;pizza in a cup&rsquo; amuse bouche were arguably the finest dinner we&rsquo;ve had in Fontainebleau.  Add in  the spectacular ambiance creating by the decor, lighting and stone walled/brick ceiling cave and it makes L&rsquo;Atelier du Go&ucirc;t a highly recommended dinner.

AMAZING food but sadly one member of staff behaved atrociously. From the moment our party of six arrived, his demeanour was abrasive and his attitude managed to deteriorate from there. It was noticed by both of the other members of staff who were really very nice. When we complained, he walked away from the table and called us &quot;pieces of S&amp;%T&quot; Never ever in our lives, have we been treated so badly. He maintained that we mocked him every time he served our table. I wasn&#39;t going to leave this review because the manager was very apologetic and gave us a very discounted bill to reflect his behaviour. However, if you do choose to eat there, the food &amp; ambience were second to none, it was just a terrible shame about one person!

The service was efficient and friendly. The atmosphere was pleasant but decor uninteresting. The food was well-prepared with good quality ingredients but overly complicated in part, mixing too many tastes to be truly enjoyable in one dish and providing lukewarm and mushy vegetables in another.
