What people are saying:

St George’s Church in George Town has a beautiful architectural design: a striking white building in neoclassical style, with a spire. It is the oldest Anglican church in South East Asia, and was named one of Malaysia’s 50 national treasures in 2007. It faces towards the sea and has grounds in front with a classical-inspired portico. It’s a great place to visit to get a sense of George Town’s history.

Great experience with the doscent guide

The tour by a member was fascinating--telling the history, showing the bomb damage from the December 1941 Japanese aerial attack. Very informative and interesting.

Additional Information

Introduction

St. George's Church is an ancient Anglican church in Southeast Asia and one of the oldest local attractions. The building is fairly well proportioned, the floor is paved with marble, and the columns are neatly arranged and beautifully shaped, and the spires stand tall. There is also a chic little attic in the courtyard of the church, which houses the monument to the captain of Francis Wright for several years.
