Jiming Post Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Won't you come and visit the place where Cixi once fled to?
Jimingyi Ancient City in Huailai County, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province | A 650-year-old post station
Jimingyi City is located in Jimingyi Village, Jimingyi Township, Huailai County, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province. It is 62 kilometers southeast of Zhangjiakou City and 127 kilometers from Madian Bridge on the Third Ring Road of Beijing via the Beijing-Tibet Expressway. The newly opened Beijing-Zhangjiakou high-speed railway has a station in Huailai.
Jimingyi got its name because it is backed by Jiming Mountain. According to the 'Huailai County Annals': 'During the Tang Dynasty's Zhenguan era, the Eastern Turks invaded the Central Plains, and the border people could not live in peace. Therefore, Emperor Taizong of Tang, Li Shimin, personally led a military expedition and stayed at this mountain. At night, he heard the sound of chickens crowing on the mountain, hence the name Jiming Mountain.'
In terms of transportation and post roads, the terrain of Huailai is flanked by two mountains with a valley in between, forming an east-west corridor. To the west are the highlands and deserts, and to the east is the strategic pass of Juyong. This was the 'Shanggu Thoroughfare' during the pre-Qin period.
In the early Yuan Dynasty, a 'station' and an 'express post' were set up at the foot of Jiming Mountain to handle the transmission of military and political messages. During the Ming Dynasty, a city wall was built here, with two gates to the east and west, and the 'horse paths' served as the entry and exit routes for post horses. Jimingyi City is square-shaped, 467 meters long from east to west, and 463 meters wide from north to south. There are two main streets running through the city from east to west; the front street was a major street and once had the reputation of 'a street of merchants.' In the central area of the front street, there were the Guanyin Temple, Dragon King Temple, Three Observatories Temple, and the mansions and courtyards such as the He Family Courtyard; the back street had the Yongning Temple, Wenchang Temple, Taishan Temple, Sanyi Temple, Mawang Temple, and the post station's horse registry.
The 'He Family Courtyard' of Jimingyi became a popular attraction because it once hosted Empress Dowager Cixi.
In 1900, when the Eight-Nation Alliance occupied Beijing, Empress Dowager Cixi and Emperor Guangxu stayed here for one night while fleeing to Xi'an. To this day, on the mountain wall of the second courtyard, there are four large characters in regular script, 'Hongxi Jiefu,' which are said to have been inscribed by Empress Dowager Cixi herself.
It was not until 1913, when the Beiyang government established the post office and abolished the post stations across the country, that Jimingyi City ended its 650-year history as a post station.

With a history of 600 years, it is the largest and most complete ancient post station architectural complex existing in China
Jimingyi Ancient City Jimingyi Ancient City
is the largest and most complete ancient post station existing in the country, and is also a precious remnant of China's postal and military relay system, with significant historical, artistic, and scientific value. It is known as a 'living fossil' of postal archaeology and secret service archaeology.
Jimingyi was originally established as a relay route by Genghis Khan during his western campaign, and was expanded in the 18th year of the Yongle reign of the Ming Dynasty (AD 1420) to become the first major station for the Dinghuo Prefecture to enter the capital. There are as many as 17 temples from the Ming and Qing dynasties within the city, most of which are well-preserved. The Ming and Qing murals remaining in the temples are still colorful, and the figures are lifelike. Its unique historical and cultural landscape and postal value have attracted a large number of visitors and film and television drama writers from home and abroad. It has also been listed by the World Monuments Fund as one of the 100 most endangered cultural heritages in the world, which shows the high value of its cultural relics.
Jimingyi Ancient City is located at the foot of Jiming Mountain on the north bank of the Yanghe River in Huailai County, covering an area of 22,000 square meters, with a nearly square plan and a city wall perimeter of 1891.8 meters. There are 4 corner towers evenly distributed around the city wall, with one city gate each on the east and west sides, equipped with gate towers, and smoke towers outside the city. The five roads inside the city crisscross, dividing the city into twelve areas of varying sizes. Existing relics include the Post Commissioner's Office and the Public Mansion Courtyard, as well as seven temples such as Taishan Temple, Wenchang Palace, Chenghuang Temple, Dragon God Temple, God of Wealth Temple, White-robed Guanyin Hall, and Yongning Temple, as well as the Hejia Courtyard, where Empress Dowager Cixi and Emperor Guangxu stayed when they fled to Xi'an.
Jimingyi Ancient City's travel guide:
There are farmhouses in Jimingyi City where you can stay and dine, with each room generally costing 50-80 yuan and offering basic conditions. You can choose to stay in Xiahuayuan District of Zhangjiakou City or Shacheng in Huailai County, both of which have more mature reception conditions, with various grades of hotels and guesthouses available for accommodation, with standard rooms in ordinary guesthouses costing about a hundred yuan.
The tourism development of Jimingyi Ancient City is still quite limited, and it is not as beautiful as the ancient towns of Pingyao and Xitang, but rather appears to be more dilapidated and disorderly, with more primitive buildings, etc. Please choose whether to visit according to personal preference.
Jimingyi Ancient City's tour route:
Visitors to Jimingyi Ancient City often come from Beijing and other places. If you only visit this one attraction, you can return on the same day. If you want to visit famous attractions in Huailai such as Jiming Mountain and Tianmo Park, you will need to stay overnight.

Tsingpu Badaling Retreat Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Experience a day at a winery in the suburbs of Beijing
Experience a day at a winery in the suburbs of Beijing| The second Qingpu we checked in with teammates is located near Beijing (Huailai, Hebei), about a two-hour drive from the city area. It must be said that each Qingpu is very different, each with very distinct local characteristics, but what remains unchanged is the excellent service.
The predecessor of this Qingpu was Ruiyun Winery, with over 700 acres of vineyards, experiencing the cycle of spring growth, summer maturation, autumn harvest, and winter storage, creating a very pastoral and poetic atmosphere. Such a large place has only 15 guest rooms, which are very private and quiet.
We booked a one-bedroom suite with a whopping 100 square meters, which also comes with a small courtyard, perfect for sunbathing. A welcome fruit basket is included with the stay.
Due to being a winery, the decor has a very European flair. Here you can fully understand wine culture, including wine tasting, visiting the cellars, and so on. Other complimentary recreational activities include making clay rabbit figurines, wet plate photography, and metalworking jewelry. You can call the hotel in advance to confirm the specific schedule after booking.
For dinner, you can choose between Chinese and Western cuisine. We chose Western, and the steak was surprisingly delicious!!
It's a bit cold in early spring, and the courtyard feels a bit bleak, so May to September seems like a better season. Weddings can also be held here, but when we asked about availability for the second half of 2023 for 2024, May to September were already fully booked.
A very special day at the winery, adding a little bit more to the experience of life! Looking forward to checking in at the next Qingpu with my teammates~~
Pretend to arrive in Europe! A vineyard-style hotel surrounded by hundreds of acres of vineyards
Badaling Ruiyun·Qingpu Cultural Hotel. This place is filled with a sense of freedom and the countryside, boasting over 700 acres of vineyards. Its Tuscan-style European architecture seems to instantly transport you to the vineyard castles of Europe.
The hotel was originally established as the Ruiyun Winery in 1998, and it still retains its identity as a winery, with endless vineyards surrounding the hotel. Qingpu has made almost no major changes to the original structure of the winery, including the preservation of the wine-making area and the cellar. The architecture adopts Tuscan style design, using local natural materials to showcase the texture of the building, achieving a harmonious integration of architecture and nature.
Qingpu Cultural Hotel's dining pursues health and seasonality, blending Chinese and Western culinary cultures. The head chef has many years of experience as an executive chef in five-star hotels and is adept at innovating and improving dishes from various regions. Signature dishes include morel stewed squab, French pan-seared lamb chops, Italian Tuscan salmon, fresh yam truffle stir-fried with Australian scallops, and more.
There is also a series of immersive local cultural experience activities, which is also the most attractive part of every Qingpu. Wine tasting, Beijing rabbit toys, Yanjing lacquer carving, wet plate photography, natural dyeing, metalworking and silver jewelry, Song-style tea pointing, and other various artistic and cultural experiences are deeply loved, and you won't be bored even if you play for a couple of days.
A cultural and entertainment habitat at the foot of the Great Wall, a base for parent-child entertainment
The average temperature of Ruiyun Pavilion throughout the summer has not exceeded 25°C, which is of course related to the altitude of Huai Chasing Basin and the 'sparsely populated' area. The wind from the vineyard has a hint of coolness, which is very healthy for people who live in air-conditioned rooms in the city for a long time. Take your children to experience nature and return to a genuine childhood.
Design
The garden built in 98, although not long, but the architecture imitates the standard Italian castle, less popular, not many people go, the environment is retro and aesthetic, is an Italian Tuscan style castle, through stone, wood, mud and other natural materials to show the texture of the building.
Room
15 guest rooms, 600 acres of vineyard, quiet and harmonious. Suitable for staying for two days on the weekend, Italian garden, you can freely vineyard, winery, wine cellar, observatory... Walking the dog, bringing children, dating, holding weddings feel very appropriate, and safe and private.
Meals
The main meals are Michelin no-menu meals, lunch is Chinese food, we two people five dishes, eat to the stomach skew, dinner is Western food, also very delicious. They sometimes have barbecues on Saturdays or when there are many people.
Art and Culture
The inheritance of culture and aesthetic education is not a rigid copy, but is obtained through spontaneous and natural play, which is also the most basic mode for children to learn and understand the world around them. Qingpu provides a lot of art and culture activities, take children to understand Yanjing culture to enhance hands-on ability, education in entertainment.
Experience
No extra charges, food, accommodation and travel are all included in one price, it is more worry-free for parents to take their children out. The food system of Qingpu is called 'He Xiang Kitchen', aiming to restore the local flavor of each destination, satisfying the taste buds of guests with the freshest ingredients.
Tianmo Park Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Film location of Changjin Lake·Tianmo (Huailai, Hebei)
Tianmo Film and Television Base
Highlights❤️
√"Tianmo" is located in Longbaoshan, southwest of Xiaonanxinbao Town, Huailai County, known as "Tianmo", 90 kilometers away from Beijing,
√It is connected with the Badaling Great Wall and Kangxi Grassland, composed of mountains, Gobi, desert, and lakes.
√More than 300 films and television series such as "The Great Battle", "The Mummy 3", and "Jinghua Yan Yun" have been shot here.
√A golden sand dune winds between the mountains and waters
√🚗It takes two hours to drive from Wangjing, Beijing to Tianmo
√🚗On the way, take a section of the G6 auxiliary road|The sunset is beautiful all the way
√Direct impression: Orchard, grass beach, desert🏜️are integrated
💰Ticket: 30 yuan
⏰Opening hours: 8:30-17:30
❤️Review:
1️⃣The smallest desert in the world🏜️
2️⃣The most beautiful desert in the world🏜️
3️⃣The nearest desert to Beijing🏜️
4️⃣Photography, especially ancient costume photography, gives a sense of crossing
❤️Tianmo has 14 scenes|We only saw the first scene and the sun went down... will come again
📝Note tips:
①It's quite cold, so wear more|There are fewer tourists in winter and no snack bars or small supermarkets, so it's more convenient to bring your own food.
②If you go late, you can discuss the ticket.
③It's better to return to Yanqing and stay in a hotel🏨at night. Highly recommend the Badaling Hilton Hotel package of 880 yuan in cooperation with Ctrip, which can get a return of 600 yuan➕, super awesome!
Well, perhaps called "Tian Mo Film and Television Base" is more appropriate. Longbao Mountain, located in the southwestern part of Xiaonanxinbao Town, Huailai County, is 90 kilometers away from Beijing. Although it is small in size, it is in line with the Badaling Great Wall and Kangxi Grassland. Throughout, there are mountains, Gobi, and deserts. Many northwest style scenes of film and television are filmed here. Well, big movies such as "Mummy 3" and "Longmen Flying A" are also shot here. The houses in
Tian Mo are built by the past crews, and there is a sense of desolateness in the northwest desert. Tian Mo has taken a lot of film and television dramas here, and "Journey to the West" and "The Romance of the Three Kingdoms" have taken the scene here.
Tianqian covers an area of 1,300 acres, the area is not large, but the victory is close to the emperor. The sand of the desert is floating on the surface, and the bottom is the soil. The sand of the desert is from Inner Mongolia. It comes with the strong wind. In the winter season, ice and sand are mixed together. We also encountered a film crew, a horse team and a lens on the sand dunes, NG several times. Even the camels here often come to the "extra actor" in the movie.

Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Drive from Beijing, follow the Badaling Expressway and go straight to the ancient cliffs, but in just 2 hours, you can reach the Orengda tribe and the original township, the resort town at the foot of the Jingxi Mountains. Here is the pure American West style - the ups and downs of the "Route 66" in the town, the American country style cottages, the quaint chapel and the palatial wine museum... even the sculptures in the town are cowboys And the shape of the bull, full of rough and unrestrained meaning.
The owners who live here are affectionately known as the village people of the Orenda tribe and the original town. In addition to the residence, it also creates a complete authentic American western market and Settlement culture - In the quaint white chapel, I heard that there are often "villas" to practice the violin. Some people in the wine museum are tasting and even making wine. Huayou Huizhong has a "village folk" to make a collage of dried flowers. Some people are splashing ink creations. Surprisingly, these villas from all walks of life are not artistically professional, but their works are commendable. It seems that the relaxed and free atmosphere here has awakened their hearts. Dream, let them become artists of life.
What makes me most heart-warming is the garden courtyard built by the village people. The area is small, but it is a cluster of flowers. The ground is almost completely covered by green plants, and the winding stone path is from There is a greenery coming out of the way, and from time to time there is a big cat leisurely passing by - you see, no matter how embarrassing the world, some people will have their own days into poetry.
[Hotel Travel] From Beijing, it takes more than two hours by car to reach the Orongda native tribe, where you can gather a variety of dream gatherings, such as flower gatherings, equestrian settlements, oil paintings, wine gatherings... and all are clubs. There are poems and distant places, there are music and wine, there are art and gardens... Really create an Austrian life, a beautiful home.
