The A-Ma Temple is located in the southwest of the Macau Peninsula. It is built along the coast with mountains and the sea behind. It is one of the most famous places of interest in Macau. It has a history of more than 500 years. The location is very easy to find, you can see it when you get off the bus stop!
one of the most historical temple of macau.
A very interesting temple to visit. As you climb to the top you will see many different types of incense burning and people offering their prayers. Upon our descent we were rewarded with a troupe of lion dancers practicing for an upcoming performance in the square. It was a lovely surprise.
The oldest temple in Macau (constructed in 1488) and intertwined with the story of Macau's founding, this is a must-see for history buffs or if you're interested in Eastern religions. Interestingly, despite its colonial past, a very large majority of locals are Buddhist. The temple honours "Mazu" - the sea goddess and patron of fishermen. Come for some peace and quiet, light an incense stick, and take in the views.
I have made a good wish, and I believe it will come true!
