This site is wonderful. The Blue Lagoon is famous and thanks to this, this site remains intact, in its natural state and with hardly any people. The best we go. Access is difficult because it is in the Highlands but it is very worth it.

We stayed overnight in a private room in the New Hut which was nice but VERY expensive. It was 28800 Icelandic Kroners (£182) for a tiny room with a double bed below and single bunk bed overhead. Ther...
We decided to drive to Hveravellir for the day only from Blondous not realizing what a spectucular place this was. The drive from the North was terrible, the road was sometimes allmost non-existing a...
Hveravellir is an amazing place - hot springs, noisy steam vents - possibly the best of the geothermal sites. However, it is not the easiest place to get to. A 4 x 4 is essential, and even then the ro...

The rough drive trough a endless rocky landscape is more rewarding then the site itself. Had to pay for parking and the pool was so disappointing we did not even go in. The staff is not helpfull at a...

Hveravellir is a nature reserve located in the Highands of Iceland, just south of the Langjökull and Hofsjökull glaciers. Going to see the fumaroles, the bubbles of boiling water and bathing in one of the natural pools of thermal water is an experience not to be missed. It can be reached only in 4x4 vehicles or adapted bus and in the area there are other places to walk or hiking trails. There is a Lodge right there that has a restaurant and a small food store.
