In the mid-19th century, the church was expanded with architect Esperandieu, whose tall dome, colorful marble decorations and wonderful mosaic inlaid decorations gave the golden and majestic effect of the tower. Unlike other churches, the walls inside are decorated with paintings donated by believers, tarots, model boats and war medals, and even model boats hang out, highlighting Marseille's maritime features.
