In the hot June, I set foot on such a small island, some strange and familiar. The sun shone and kissed every inch of my skin, and the skirt fluttered in the cool sea breeze. Flowers and birds, it touched the softest area of my heart, making my distant blue and white dreams at your fingertips.
I have always been obsessed with blue and white. I wanted to go to Santorini several times and I didn't get it in the end. In recent years, the island winds have prevailed, and domestic tourists are keen on Southeast Asian islands, but they ignore the beautiful islands around us.
A TV series "Ode to Joy 2" let me know that there is such a beautiful and romantic island in Zhoushan. From a distance, the countless high and low blue and white houses on the island will produce species. The illusion is like walking into the blue and white world of Santorini.
A few days of slow life on the island, walking through the streets in the afternoon, walking to the beach in the evening, passing the cool sea breeze, not only the seductive scenery that penetrates the soul, but also You want a cool summer.
If you're determined to visit Huaniao Island, you must know this
Huaniao Island is located at the northernmost part of the Shengsi archipelago in Zhoushan City, Zhejiang Province🗺️. Its shape resembles a seagull ready to take flight, and the island is named for its abundant flowers and beautiful forests⛰️. The TV series 'Ode to Joy 2' was filmed here.
🚢Transportation
1️⃣Ferry:
First, head to Shenjia Bay Passenger Terminal and take a ferry to Sijiao Island's Lizhushan Passenger Terminal, then take a taxi/bus to the other end of Sijiao Island to Xiaocaiyuan Passenger Terminal, and finally take a ferry to Huaniao Island.
2️⃣Direct boat (book through Huaniao Island B&B, you need to book the B&B before booking the boat ticket): From Shenjia Bay Passenger Terminal, take a direct ferry to Huaniao Island
🌟🌟Recommended attractions on Huaniao Island:
1⃣Star-gazing Platform✨
The seaside here has rocks and a sea of flowers, making it a great spot for photography.
2⃣The white house near the Star-gazing Platform🏠
This white house is simply amazing! It looks good even on cloudy days!
There's also the S-curve road nearby, with many wildflowers along the way. Capture the extension of the road in your shots for a sense of travel.
3⃣Huaniao Lighthouse
Known as the 'Far East's No.1 Lighthouse', it is also a landmark of Huaniao Island🏭. It's recommended to go there in the evening to wait for a romantic sea sunset. From the observation deck, you can overlook the entire Huaniao Village, and the distant windmills and the blue sea are truly beautiful!
4⃣Matou Line
Choose to hike to the lighthouse to pass through the most beautiful scenery. It takes about 3 hours, or you can take a sightseeing car. Before reaching the Matou Line observation deck, there are two lawns by the road, which are very picturesque, especially under a blue sky.
5️⃣Village Entrance Cafe
This cafe is so fresh and lovely! Be sure to buy a cup of coffee with the Huaniao Island brand, it tastes good too.
6️⃣Buddha's Hand Stone
Buddha's Hand Stone is an excellent place on the island to watch the sunrise, best to go before 5 am. The sea and sky merge into one, with no obstructions, making it a holy place for sunrise enthusiasts🌅
7️⃣Rainbow Dun
A popular photo spot, just walking around and taking snapshots looks great👀
8️⃣Fluorescent Sea
Also known as 'Blue Tears', the best chance to encounter the Fluorescent Sea is from May to August each year. The Fluorescent Sea often appears on clear summer nights, and you can go to Nan'ao Beach or Bei'ao Pier to watch after nightfall.
‼️Tips:
🔴Whether the boat sails depends entirely on the weather☁️! Foggy weather may delay or even cancel flights.
🔴It is suggested to wear clothes with high saturation to form a stark contrast with other sceneries, which makes for great photos📸
🔴Be sure to plan ahead, as last-minute efforts may result in no boat tickets to the island🚢

Shengshan Island Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
HouTouWan Heaven
We traveled to a small island in the East China sea, ShengShan, and discovered this abandoned fishing village. The location is quite a little ways up the mountain so I'd suggest going early if you're walking or taking a Taxi if you're willing to pay the steep fee. The views were absolutely breathtaking and every bit of sweat it took walking up there. After strolling the abandoned fishing village and taking way too many photos we walked back down the mountain and enjoyed some ice cream and beer in town. If ever you find yourself there, this is a must!

China's most east? There may be N places that will compete with the small fishing village of Zhoushan in Zhoushan, but the sunrise here is so shocking on the five senses, whether it is in Lushan Island or Ghost Village, warming the mind and choosing a cliff. Hotel, lingering in the infinity pool, feel the time flowing like a song
The return of the East Cliff to the sunrise, you can finally see the scenery of Mount Lu.
The roads are full of shrimps, and the air is filled with the smell of dried shrimps. This is probably the unique taste and mark of the fishing town. The white float in the sea shimmers in the sun, and the scenery of the blue sea pasture.
Blue Sea Ranch, a quiet scene. Qixiang is a key township in the fishing industry. The mussel breeding industry is particularly developed and named by the Provincial Marine Fisheries Bureau as the Hometown of Mussels in Zhejiang Province. The Mussel Culture Festival is held from September to October every year. During the festival, a grand cultural and entertainment show will be held. The atmosphere of joy will last for a whole month.
This piece of sea, with a large white float group, and a large number of boats, is a good place to film. The white float floats on the surface of the sea, the sun is shining, and the waves are shining. At this moment, I understand why so many photographers have been passionate for n times, and it is indeed a beautiful island.
The car drove through a small harbor and there was a row of houses built on the hillside. This is a small harbor called "The Potala Palace at Sea". The golden glow of the morning, see Its beautiful, if you have the chance to go out by boat, you will be more beautiful.

Shanhai Qiguan Scenic Spot Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Gouqi Island’s Mountain and Sea Wonders
After checking into our local guest house on Gouqi Island, it was time to go and explore!
A coastal hiking route was recommended to us, a path that meandered from our guest house up to a hilltop that took us about an hour to make our way, leisurely, up to a stunning viewpoint where we could overlook The Aquatic Farm.
You could easily just perch on the stone benches here to watch the sun set over this stunning landscape, but we actually continued our hike up to the very top of the hill.
Up at the top, we had this incredible panoramic view of the island and of The Aquatic Farm from a further distance, and tucked behind a part of hilltop temple is where we sat to watch the sun set. If you're in need of a refreshment while up there, there is also a cute little coffee shop where all the KOLs flock to take photos in front of it's popular yellow walls.
Where I Stayed: Gouqi Sunshine Cluster Inn
Time Taken To Wall to Monument: 20 Minutes of Power Walking!
Find it: Gouqi Island, China
#createwithtrip
Michaela (@uncoveringcities) On the coastal roads, there are very few vehicles. There are all kinds of new and old fishing nets, floats and fishing boats piled up on the roadside. The fishermen who encounter labors from time to time; the workers are decorating the seaside bunkhouses in the off-season, and it is sure to be in the peak season and a beautiful scenery.
The sea is in the direction of the sea. It is a star-shaped fishing boat. The Sanjiao River Bridge is not far away, connecting the islands of Luang and Lushan. The fishermen's life is like a coastal road, simple and pure, but full of scenery.
The coast presents a completely different form. The power of nature, the waves of the millennium, the sturdy cliffs can penetrate, turning the coast into such awkward appearance.
Shanhai Wonders Even the temples, stone monuments, pavilions, and forts constitute a scenic spot. At this time, there are no tourists. We have become the only one waiting for the sunset. The cliffs surrounding the wonders of the mountains and seas are now fenced, which is relatively safe.
The turret not far away is also a good place to enjoy the sunset and the stars at night. The more the evening is approaching, the wind is getting more and more sturdy. The wonders of the mountains and seas are unobstructed on the top, just hiding in the fort. Avoid the wind in the fence.

| Experience the leisurely island life of Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai.📍Gouqi Island🏝️ | Experience the leisurely island life of Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai || 🏞️Discover the enchanting Gouqi Island, Shengshan Island (not quite suitable during the Qingming Festival season🤣)
📍Gouqi Island
The 'Little Greece' of the East, crossing the sea just to meet you.
🏝️Gouqi Island is located in Shengsi County, Zhoushan City, Zhejiang Province, and is the second largest island in Shengsi. It is named for the large number of goji berries that grow on the island. The layered houses are embedded on the cliffs, known as the 'Potala Palace on the Sea'.
😉About the attractions
📍Mountain and Sea Spectacle
Climbing to the top of the Mountain and Sea Spectacle, one can see the beautiful scenery of mountains, reefs, beaches, clouds, sky, and sea, which is refreshing and uplifting. The four huge characters 'Mountain and Sea Spectacle' are carved on the eastern cliff, inscribed by the Governor of Zhejiang and Fujian during the Ming Dynasty, Hou Jigao.
📍Dawang Beach
As the largest beach on Gouqi Island, located in Dawang Village, the beach is about 200 meters long and 20 meters wide, with fine sand quality. However, it is now fenced off due to a fee. Free beaches include Siyao Beach and Ganmiao Beach.
📍Sea Ranch
Gouqi Island is the hometown of mussels, with white buoys twinkling under the sunlight, fishing boats shuttling through the green waves, forming a beautiful sea ranch painting.
📍Sunset Ganxie Pier
Ganxie Pier is currently the only pier for tourists to enter and leave Gouqi Island, and it is also an excellent spot for shooting sunsets in the evening.
📍Sea Fishing
You can book a sea fishing trip from the fishermen's joy, follow the boat owner to the ranch, and experience the charm of the fishermen's life. The sea waves near the shore are usually not big, so seasickness is unlikely, and the cost is about 150 yuan per person. It takes half an hour to reach the nearshore ranch by boat, and sea fishing generally uses lure fishing rods, with a high success rate of catching fish.
📍Shengshan Island
🏞️Dongya Cliff
Take a taxi from Gouqi Island to Shengshan Island, connected by the Sanjiao River Bridge. We took a taxi from Dawang Beach to Dongya Cliff for 60RMB, but of course, you can also bargain. This scenic spot is located at the easternmost end of Shengshan Island and is the most beautiful part.

Shengsi Islands Scenic Area Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
If you don’t like Sanya. 🌊
ESCAPE Shanghai for a weekend? This is a perfect island getaway if you are done with Sanya or just want something more tranquil. 🏝️
FOR 150 RMB, you can buy a ticket that includes a coach ride from Nanpu Bridge + 3hr ferry ride to the islands on the south east of Shanghai. Check the official WeChat account - 嵊泗客运 through which you can buy tickets for many different islands.
SHENGSI is one of these islands. It is linked to Shengshan island by a bridge - the one with the abandoned fishing village.
DO NOT expect a vibrant nightlife or any type of water activity apart from fishing. These islands are a destination for many fishing amateurs - specially in winter.
HOWEVER, you will get slow paced days, walkable distances all around the island, evening discussions by the sound of waves, amazing views and very friendly locals. 😊
ACCOMMODATION range from cheap guest houses to more high end ones with bath tubs and a view. There are no big hotel chains - which I personally liked. Everything seems to be owned by individuals.
IF YOU HAVE TIME, you can island hop and catch the ferry to the many other nearby islands. This was originally my plan but I just felt so confortable in Shengsi that I ended up staying for 4 days instead of 2.

Explore stunning beauty of Shengsi Islands
Shengsi Island is a breathtaking destination that truly offers a unique experience for travelers seeking a peaceful and serene escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Located off the coast of China, this island is a paradise for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike.
The island is surrounded by crystal clear waters, and its coastline is dotted with pristine beaches and rugged cliffs that make for stunning scenery. Visitors can hike up to the island's highest peak, explore hidden caves and grottos, or simply relax on the beach and soak up the sun.
In addition to its natural beauty, Shengsi Island is also rich in culture and history. The island's fishing village is a charming place to explore, with traditional houses and bustling markets that offer a glimpse into daily life on the island.
Beaches in China? (No it’s NOT Sanya!)
#MyTripVlog #china #beachlife
Growing up in a seaside town in England, I am always on the hunt for gentle beaches wherever I go. The commercialised draw of Sanya has never appealed to my partner and I… which is where Shengsi Islands come in!
Getting There - Just an hours bus ride from Nanpu Bridge (Shanghai) and a further trip on a ferry will take you to Shengsi Islands.
Attractions - There are several islands (you’ve probably heard of Gouqi abandoned fishing islands) but we visited the main island which boats a unesco world heritage scenic spots, not to mention beautiful beaches.
Hotels - So many to choose. If you are a foreigner like me, most hotels will help you with the registration process.
Food & Restaurants - If you like seafood this is the place for you!
The off-season Shengsi Archipelago is simply a paradise on earth
Last weekend, seizing the clear weather, I embarked on the long-awaited trip to the Shengsi Archipelago🚤☀️~ To be honest, the mood for traveling really does correlate with the weather!
When it comes to traveling in early spring, many people shake their heads, but actually, there's a little secret — that is to pick a good weather day!😉 Because dear, without the warm sun of summer, the color of the sea looks like its saturation has been turned down, plus the howling sea breeze and the bone-chilling cold, if it's not a sunny day for the trip, the experience will definitely be discounted. We actually roamed two islands this time, the first day was quite average due to the cloudy sky over the main island of Shengsi; so a little tip: for an off-season trip to Shengsi, you must choose a sunny day!🌤️
For those who yearn for the azure sea, there are not many choices in the off-season, but Dongfushan Island and Gouqi Island — will definitely satisfy you! Although the first day on the main island did not witness the dreamlike clear water, the blue dream finally came true on the second day at Gouqi Island.
I'm here to recommend some spots!😜 Personal must-visit places include: the Sea Pasture, Beichao Yang, Left Bank Road, and Dongya Cliff. Trust me, they will absolutely make you cry with their beauty.
Specifically, arrive at the main island of Shengsi at noon on the first day, rent an electric scooter in the afternoon, and rest early in the evening. The next morning, chase the sunrise at Beichao Yang, stroll leisurely along the Left Bank Road, and of course, taking photos is a must (you know, not just of the sea but also of people😂). Then head to Gouqi Island, where the east cliff is the best spot for sunbathing and sea viewing. On the way back, don't forget to pass by the Sea Pasture, it's all beautiful scenery along the way.
A warm reminder: the early mornings of early spring are not jokingly cold! We are brave little electric scooter knights, but neither a windbreaker nor a down jacket can withstand the severe cold of the morning. So, my friends, I suggest you take a taxi instead!🚗
Let me tell you secretly, the deck view on the return trip from Gouqi to Shanghai is simply intoxicating. The combination of blues and sunset is simply yyds (forever godlike)!
To sum up, if you are like me, a buddy from Jiangsu, Zhejiang, or Shanghai, you can't miss the off-season Shengsi! It's not expensive (about six or seven hundred per person), you can avoid the crowds and enjoy good weather, it's simply a cost-effective choice with off-the-charts value~ I haven't really seen the sea properly since graduating from elementary school, and this time I finally went wild with the sea again🌊💙~
