The entry is free and you can hike around the entire fortress. I like that there are descriptions on what each part was used for throughout history. This is a must-see when visiting Korea!Gabrielle S

Suwon Hwaseong is the 22nd Dynasty Dynasty King Jeongjo, in order to mourn his father, the second son of Youngjo. Although he was canonized as the heir, he was excluded from the faction struggle and failed to ascend to the throne. He ended his life in the rice cabinet. He moved the remains of his father from Baebongsan Mountain in Yangju to be buried here, and moved the eup city near Hwasan Mountain to its current location at the foot of Paldal Mountain in Suwon, and built Suwon Hwaseong Fortress.
