It is located in the large empty hill of Hokkaido. From National Highway 39, you can see seven landmarks of larch on the gentle hills, where large-scale highland farming is taking place. From the hill, you can see the vast pastoral scenery and the lake. Since the filming site, "Dream", which was released in 1990, Kurosawa has been known for taking pictures.

沙漠里的赤裸裸
The Ainu National Museum in Hokkaido is a museum that restores the villages (kotan) where the indigenous Ainu people lived on the shores of Lake Poroto. It displays the tangible and intangible culture of the Ainu people, and is also a facility for academic investigation and research. The museum recreates the past grass-top houses of the Ainu people, tise, pu (grain bank), heperesetsu (cage for bears), tipu (canoe), etc. Here, according to the theme of clothing, food, housing, etc., the collection of various Ainu ethnic groups is displayed, which is the largest in Japan. In the experience hall, you can also enjoy the national musical instrument bamboo harmonica play, designated as an important intangible folk cultural heritage Ainu ancient dance. Every year, hundreds of thousands of people come here to learn the traditions and life of the Ainu people. Ainu is an indigenous people in northern Japan, and the National Ainu Museum and National National Symbiosis Park aim to revitalize the culture and life of the Ainu people. This open-air facility displays many interactive, educational exhibits, and everyone is more familiar with its Ainu name "UPOPOY". UOPOY means "ethnic chorus", reflecting the facility as a community, providing people with gatherings, Mission of learning venues. UOPOY takes you through the history and culture of Ainu that is not yet known to international friends. POPOY opened in 2020 and is the northernmost national museum in Japan. The permanent exhibition covers six themes surrounding the Ainu people and culture: language, worldview (spirit and customs), life, history, livelihood and communication (interaction between Ainu and other peoples). You can walk freely in the main hall to learn more about Ainu's culture. There is also an interactive space called Temptempa, which means “feel firsthand” in Ainu. Here you can deepen your understanding of Ainu culture by building models, stereo models and puzzles based on the six main themes of the permanent exhibition. Outside the museum is the National National Symbiosis Park. The greenery and spacious roads make people think about the importance of Ainu culture to symbiosis with nature. In your exploration, you can stop at the Ainu Crafts, Food and Music experience centers for a close encounter. At the southern end of UOPOY is a hall of experience exchange (uekari cise), where you can enjoy traditional music and dance performances, especially the “Ainu-style dance”, which is currently listed on the UNESCO list of human intangible cultural heritage. The soundtrack also includes mukkuri (a bamboo harmonica) and tonkori (a five-stringed piano) performances. These performances are sometimes performed in Cikisani Square, with the stunning Poroto Lake as a natural backdrop. Not far from the Experience Exchange Hall, an experience hall where you can cook and try Ainu cuisine and learn how to play mukkuri and tonkori.
