Baolian Temple

Baolian Temple is located in a lane on the east side of Mingjiao Temple. Formerly known as Erlang Temple, it was relocated here in 1987 due to the renovation of the old city and renamed Baolian Temple. The three golden characters of "Baolian Temple" on the mountain gate are inscribed by Zhao Puchu, the former chairman of the National Buddhist Association, and the golden statue of Guanyin Bodhisattva is enshrined in the Buddhist hall. The original abbot of the temple, Venerable Shenghai, passed away and is now headed by monk Ni Hao Lian. There is a plaza in front of the Po Lin Monastery. In the plaza, there is a three-story small altar imitating the circle of the Temple of Heaven in Beijing, which serves as a foil for the Giant Buddha on the opposite mountain. There is a towering stone archway with three rooms, four columns and three floors in front of the temple. In the middle of the archway, the four characters "Po Lian Temple" are engraved horizontally on the plaque. After the archway, there is a tree-lined corridor leading to the temple gate. The temple gate has a very characteristic form. The lower part of it is a tall stone platform, and there are three coupon gates under the platform. The stone platform is surrounded by railings, and in the middle of the platform is a three-chamber hall on the top of the mountain with a single eaves, which is gorgeous and spectacular. The temple buildings are majestic and magnificent, including the palace-style Daxiong Hall and the solemn and mighty Tianwang Hall. The temple is in the style of Xieshan Mountain, with shining roof tiles. There are Chinese-style Great Buddha Hall and Mahavira Hall, and there are 3 Buddha statues in it. In front of the Mahavira Hall is the Weituo Hall, and behind it there is a Buddhist story written in Thai.
