As a unique funeral method, hanging coffins mainly appear in Jiangxi, Sichuan, Fujian, Yunnan and other southern regions in China. The Shimen hanging coffins in Ningwu are the only cliff burial groups found in northern China so far. The folks in Luya Mountain are popular with burials, and hanging coffins, which locals call stone burials, may be an unusual burial custom.
