｢海水浴場発祥地｣の碑があります。照ヶ崎プールの近くの道路沿いです。ただココが発祥かどうかわかりません。でも日本を代表する海水浴場であることは変わりません。軍医・松本順が体力増進に海水浴がいい周囲を説き、実現させたそうです。石碑の後ろの大きな石塔のは｢松本先生　謝恩碑｣と明記されています。
