Unity of Italy Square

Trieste is located on the northeastern shore of the Adriatic Sea, on the northwest side of the Istra Peninsula, and on the top of Trieste Bay, the largest free port city in Italy. After World War II, it was administered by Yugoslavia and returned to Italy after 1954. Today I will take you to the Italian Unification Square. This is the main square of Trieste, the largest seaside square in Europe. Surrounded by beige historical buildings on three sides, the other side is facing the bay, it looks very atmospheric, located at the foot of San Giusto Mountain, facing the Adriatic Sea, once the main port of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, not only the prosperous seaport city but also the center of music and literature. But then it gradually fell into depression with the integration of Italy. Italy has two unity squares, this is the earliest and largest, so you generally ask the Italians where is your unity square? They will tell you in Trieste. The other one I have been to in Florence, it is indeed half the size. The square was built in the 19th century around the city hall, district administration building and other government offices, and the opposite sea view is more beautiful, and the bronze statue of the flag-raising man on the shore is called the Liberation Monument. The most important thing here is the cruise home port, which can park tens of thousands of tons of large cruise ships. This time I came to Trieste at the invitation of Italy's largest cruise company, Gosida, because in two days, the new ship Gosida Venice in the photo is set sail. I am looking forward to it!

Trieste is a beautiful small town in northern Italy. We took a two-hour train ride here from Venice. Remnants of the Roman Empire and Venetian Empire can be seen all around the city. The city can easily be explored on foot in a day. Because Trieste is a port city, it has a rich trade and maritime history. We saw many statues and historical buildings along the water. The Piazza Unita d’Italia is also near the port and is an important square in the city. There are historic cafes and restaurants surrounding the square, and we enjoyed a nice dinner at the Caffe degli Specchi.

It is the last city in the southeast of Italy, only a few tens of kilometers from Slovenia.
