Yuanjue Temple

Yuanjue Temple, Hunyuan County, Shanxi, was built by Jinguo monk Xuanzhen in 1158. It was originally a group of complete ancient buildings centered on the tower, with the main hall, the east and west side halls, the mountain gate, the west cross-court hall, etc. In the 1930s, the Japanese invaded and demolished all the wooden structures in the temple, only the brick tower survived. The brick tower is octagonal, nine floors in dense, all brick, no ladder can be climbed. The four sides are full of brick carving reliefs, there are kabuki music, samurai, beasts, tower top of a beautiful shape of iron chicken birds, the first west, can rotate with the wind, there is a role of weather vane, but also lightning protection. It is a famous weather instrument in ancient China, the weather bird (phase wind bird).

It is the main monastery of Yuanjue Temple in Linjizong. In 1282, Shizong in Beitiao was built to mourn the Mongol people who died during Mongolia's invasion of Japan. He also invited Master Yuan Yuan from Mongolia to preside over the opening of the mountain. Kamakura Wushan is the second.
