Prepare to be captivated by the sheer beauty and serenity that awaits you at the Amethyst Resort Passikudah. My recent stay at this slice of paradise was nothing short of awe-inspiring, leaving me with memories that will undoubtedly linger for a lifetime. From the moment I set foot in the resort, I was greeted by a warm and genuine hospitality that set the tone for the entire stay. The staff's attention to detail and commitment to ensuring a flawless guest experience was truly commendable. Their passion for service was evident in every interaction, making me feel not just like a guest but a cherished member of an extended family. Nestled along the pristine shores of Passikudah, Amethyst Resort boasts breathtaking views that redefine the meaning of a picturesque escape. The crystal-clear waters, powdery white sands, and swaying palm trees create a postcard-perfect backdrop, providing an ideal setting for relaxation and rejuvenation. The accommodations at Amethyst Resort are a testament to luxury and sophistication. My room exuded a perfect blend of contemporary design and traditional charm, offering a spacious haven that instantly felt like home. The attention to detail in the decor, coupled with modern amenities, ensured a stay of unparalleled comfort. One of the highlights of my visit was the culinary journey offered by the resort's restaurants. Each dining experience was a gastronomic delight, showcasing a diverse array of local and international flavors. The talented chefs at Amethyst Resort have truly mastered the art of tantalizing the taste buds, leaving me eager to explore the menu each day. The resort's spa, a sanctuary of tranquility, provided an oasis for relaxation and self-indulgence. The skilled therapists and a thoughtfully curated menu of treatments allowed me to unwind and rejuvenate, making my stay a holistic experience for mind, body, and soul. Amethyst Resort also excels in providing a range of activities for the adventurous soul. Whether it's water sports, cultural excursions, or simply basking in the sun by the infinity pool, the resort caters to every whim and fancy. In conclusion, my stay at Amethyst Resort Passikudah was nothing short of magical. The seamless fusion of luxury, natural beauty, and warm hospitality creates an experience that transcends the ordinary. If you are seeking a haven of tranquility, where each moment is a celebration of life's beauty, Amethyst Resort Passikudah is undoubtedly the destination of choice. This hidden gem on the eastern coast of Sri Lanka has etched a special place in my heart, and I eagerly await the opportunity to return to its embrace.

The rooms are incredible and the beach is lovely but this is NOT a 4* hotel. The rest of the place seems run down and not looked after, the gardens are a mess, volleyball court isn’t usable and I’ve not seen a children’s play area. Staff are scarce, there is no pool bar and you have to go in search of beach towels or drinks. The restaurant is extremely poor, long wait for service and we were the only ones in the restaurant. Food options weren’t available and beer was only put in the fridge when I asked for it, so I then had to wait for it to cool down before it was served, when food arrived it wasn’t great, felt like a quick microwave meal. Room initially had no hot water, which we had to wait to be fixed, there is nothing in the mini bar as advertised, you just get an empty fridge, hairdryer had to be requested and room was missing towels and robes etc on arrival. Rooms took a long time to be made up each day and again some towels and robes were not replenished and had to be requested again. Parts of the hotel were closed and lots of lights at night flickered. They also advertise that the hotel has a night club and a billiards room, we haven’t seen any sign of a nightclub and the billiards room is two pool tables, one completely out of use with tape over it and the other is extremity rundown, dusty and wonky that you can’t play a game on it properly. No staff ever gave us a briefing on arrival or told us about the hotel, we have had to explore, guess and ask questions. Staff have been somewhat helpful, they speak English but don’t seem to understand it when they’re asked questions. Hotel has a what’s app service but responses are very slow and even then not fully understood. It’s like it used to be a 4* hotel but it’s run by pirates 🏴☠️

Those who like the seaside can experience it, because the hotel occupies a large sea area. Compared with the Dameisha sea area and the surrounding five-star hotels and Sanya, this place is definitely better.

The trouble with rating this resort is that it is 2 distinct sides of the coin. On the one hand, the location and room size is by far the BEST in Passikuddah. U cannot find a more value for money location and room size with views overlooking the gorgeous ocean all day and from each room! Their staff are extremely cordial and super helpful especially Mr. Sujan went out of his way to help us out with any queries or hiccups we may have had at the place. But the two things that really need extreme help are their sad breakfast and their funny rule of cleaning up rooms only once in 3 days which for a beach resort is unheard of!!! We had to ask them to clean up the room which is when we got to know about this rule they follow and to be honest, it was shocking cuz we have never heard that ever in our entire lives - they did it immediately, again with Sujan's help but I don't think one should have to ask for a clean room when you are at a resort - it's a given!! Second, their breakfast is a no-show. They offer toast, a handful of fruits and eggs besides coffee. That's just about it. For a beach resort, with that kind of view, this breakfast is a complete insult to the staff, the town and the vibe! They really need to work on that.

Price-quality is consistent. Cleaning only on request, with no change of clothing. Shampoo and air conditioners are not available, put a small soap. Staff polite and welcoming. There is a parking, in the room air conditioner, wi-fi is weak. In a generally simple and budget hotel, your money is worth. Waiting for super-ordinary, of course, isn't worth.

Giman Free Beach Resort Pasikuda

I recently stayed at the Giman Free Hotel and had a unique experience. This hotel is truly isolated, far away from civilization, making it a perfect spot for introverts or those looking for solitude. While the hotel itself is clean, it is clear that some renovations are needed to update the facilities. However, the staff more than makes up for any shortcomings with their friendliness and willingness to accommodate guests. The restaurant at the hotel surprised me with its delicious food, which I found to be better than what I have experienced at some five-star hotels in Sri Lanka. The beach near the hotel is clean. However, the downside of the beach which is very wild and long is the amount of garbage and plastic that washes up on the shore. Since the beach is deserted it was disheartening to see all the pollution scattered along the shoreline. Overall, if you are seeking a quiet retreat away from the hustle and bustle of city life, the Giman Free Hotel is a great option. Just be prepared for a bit of roughness around the edges of the beach.

Myself and my partner had the best stay at De Pearla resort. Farah the host was the best. He cooked us the most amazing meals, helped us with anything we needed assistance with and made our trip so special. He even showed us how to cook biriyani! My girlfriend became ill with a fever on one of the days and Farah went above and beyond to make sure that we were all ok and looked after. It really felt like we became part of the family. His son was also very helpful and kind to us. De Perla is a tranquil slice of Paradise that felt like a home away from home. It was always so amazing to come back to after a long day surfing and the craziness of Arugam Bay. We hope that we come back here again one day. Thank you Farah. We hope we meet again!

This is a very good hotel. Everything is clean, tidy, and beautiful. The rooms are spacious, and the grounds are well-maintained. The room comes with toiletries such as shampoo, shower gel, a shaving kit, body lotion, and a dental kit. Personally, I would have liked slippers as walking barefoot on the cold tiles wasn't very comfortable. Bathrobes would also have been a nice addition. There were never any issues finding sun loungers on the beach; there were always plenty available. It wasn't until the third day that we realized you could ask for mattresses for the loungers, and they would bring them to you. The hotel staff seems to hide them somewhere overnight. Regarding the sea, many complain about the difficult entry due to rocks, seaweed, and coral. For us, this was a plus because we love to snorkel. We saw the best coral on the left side of the beach, near the buoys, before reaching the big boat. The right side had only seaweed and was very shallow. It's better to swim in the morning, as the tide goes out in the afternoon. The water was a bit cloudy all days of our stay. We saw an interesting lionfish and a moray eel. On the hotel grounds, there's a flock of annoying crows. One afternoon, while relaxing on the beach, they swiped wet wipes from my bag, so it's best to close all your belongings when you go for a swim. About the food: it's quite decent and varied. For those who don't like spicy food, there's a chance of getting burned. For example, one day the noodles were delicious and not spicy, but on other days they were terribly hot. It's best to avoid the wooden food stand, as everything there is spicy. They occasionally offered shrimp, but they weren't peeled. Locals, of course, eat everything with their hands, but we found it uncomfortable. For dinner, only water is provided; other drinks cost extra. At first glance, the prices on the bar menu seemed reasonable, but then they add a 30% service charge, which sometimes isn't even provided. For example, I walked to the bar myself, ordered a drink, and carried it back to my sun lounger. Where was the service there? Yet, it was still +30%. We usually went to nearby cafes for lunch and typically got takeout to eat in our room because these cafes don't have air conditioning. We couldn't find any decent shops nearby, only a shabby kiosk where you could at most buy water. It's quite a distance from Colombo airport. You need to be prepared for at least a 5-hour drive on narrow roads. However, we did see an elephant on the way, so we didn't even have to go on a safari! Overall, we were satisfied with our holiday at this hotel.

The reception was warm and welcoming, and the staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely caring throughout our stay. The room was beautifully spacious and comfortable, creating a very relaxing atmosphere. We stayed in an ocean-view bungalow, which added a wonderful sense of luxury and made the experience feel truly special. The amenities were excellent, with a wide range of thoughtful touches that made everything even more enjoyable. This place is a perfect getaway for anyone looking to relax and unwind. We highly recommend it – without a doubt the best accommodation in the area.
