I rented a car for an 11-day trip to Kyushu, Japan, starting October 2, 2025. Full coverage and insurance included, costing approximately ₩904,000. I chose a ROOMY, but a FIT minivan of the same model was provided. The car was in good condition and well-cleaned. As a first-time rental car driver in Japan, I had many questions, but the staff were all friendly and helpful. There were no Korean-speaking staff at the time, so I used a translator and some English to communicate. Unlike Korea, Japan drives on the left, so I drove carefully. Make wide right turns and small left turns (right foot toward the center line). Japanese roads are quite slippery, so drive safely. Finding rest areas on toll roads in the southern regions, from Oita Prefecture to Miyazaki Prefecture and Kagoshima Prefecture, was difficult. In particular, where two-lane roads become single-lane roads on toll roads, the narrow roads made for a particularly nerve-wracking drive. Parking was free in most destinations, except for some major cities. The Kagoshima reservation hotel does not have a dedicated parking lot, so you must use a nearby cooperative parking lot and pay a daily parking fee of 1,000 yen.
