Aug 3, 2025 (UTC-4)
Chattanooga
Join immigration attorney Blake Gilbert for an accessible and informative overview of immigration law—how it works, how it's changing, and how those changes are affecting immigrants at the national, state, and local levels.
This session will address questions such as:
What does it mean to have a "green card"?
What does a person have to do to become a citizen?
What does it mean to be granted asylum?
For those who have been granted asylum but are now having it withdrawn (e.g. Afghans, Haitians, etc), what is their status?
What are the implications of the proposal to abolish birthright citizenship for both immigrants and Americans?
Whether you're curious about how immigration policy affects your community or you want to better understand the legal challenges immigrants face, this class will offer clarity and context.
This class is non-partisan and for informational purposes only, and brought to you in partnership with the League of Women Voters Chattanooga and The Chattery.
