Welding for Artists (Sun - Tues, 28 -30 September 2025) | London Sculpture Workshop,

On this course, no matter what your background - whether you are thinking about a sculpture or have a design idea - you will learn the basics of MIG welding, grinding, rolling, bending, cutting and good workshop practice whilst realising your ideas/project. If you don't already have a project in mind - don't worry! Once we get going plenty of ideas will arise & the small group size allows for 1:1 time with the tutor during the 3 days of the course. Open to all levels including beginners. No sculpture experience is required. Advanced students will continue personal projects and research new techniques and processes. Please bring a sketchbook. Please note there will be a 1 hour lunch break each day (lunch not provided). The course fee provides an allowance of ten pounds for materials this covers most consumable costs. Grinding and safe workshop practice will be covered. It is essential to wear old clothes and strong footwear. Course cost: £390 Course dates: Sunday 28th, Monday 29th & Tuesday 30th September 2025 Course times: 10am-1pm & 2pm -5pm Number of places available: 7 Tutor: Silvina Soria. Silvina Soria is a Sculptor Professor with an Argentinian degree who moved to London many years ago. You can see some of Silvina's work here. Silvina also designs and produces sculptural jewellery. She will do the best to adapt to your needs and help you with your projects.

Visitors need to bring their tickets (paper or electronic copy) with them. Unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate visitors who do not have a booking.
Places for all of the above events need to be booked. We kindly ask that parents who have booked a place but are no longer able to attend let us know as soon as possible so that we can offer their place to another family.

Come and meet the British Council Collection and Visual Arts Programme team. The team will give a short tour of a small selection of artworks from the British Council Collection. They will speak about their work with artists in the Collection and discuss the opportunities for artists to engage with Collections after their works are acquired.The British Council Collection is a lending library of British art. For over 90 years, works from the Collection have travelled the globe, being exhibited in over 100 countries. You will get an insight into the benefits of being in public collections (i.e. care of artwork, legacy, advocacy, accessibility of artwork, programmes, etc.) and how this can be maximised by maintaining a relationship with the collection after acquisition. The event will close with a chance to connect with other east London artists and a chance for you to put any of your burning questions to the British Council team. Please note there will be photography taken at this event for Bow Arts and the British Council’s internal reporting and for sharing in print and social media.
