Ever since my Improv journey as a student started in 2017, I was immediately hooked! It may have been the endorphins and serotonin you get by playing Improv games, because I can’t remember the last time I felt so seen, so present, and so alive! Whilst my 9-5pm job involved designing coaching and training courses for professional development, I’d wondered if Improv – an art form traditionally used for acting and comedy – could be applied to help people achieve personal development. After experimenting and running courses such as: Improv for Introverts, Improv for Dating and Relationships, Improv for the Workplace… Turns out you can! Improv is a practical tool that can be used for enhancing self-awareness, connecting with others, and aligning with your deepest desires. Theatervoorstelling: This is the situation | Oldehoofsterkerkhof
Jul 6, 2025 (UTC+1)ENDED
Leeuwarden
‘This is the situation’ is een onderzoek. Credits:
Regie: Muriël Besemer Tekst: ‘Ruh al Ruh’: Rafat Al Aydi ism Mohammed Al Aydi Spel: Linda Lugtenborg Baaddi, Abdelhadi Baaddi Scenografie: Waël Quadrieh Dialoog en gespreksleiding: Rafat Aydi, Muriël Besemer Regie Gaza: Rafat Al Aydi Spel Gaza: Ahmed Atef Rizq Al Banna, Elham Sabri Salim Abo Shanab Advies: Aus Greidanus sr.

MORETON MORRELL || GONG BATH || SOUND BATH | TRAMM CV35 9AL
Jul 7, 2025 (UTC+1)ENDED
Tweede Exloermond
Join me for a gong bath in Moreton Morell (held monthly).
If you need to unwind and stop all of that mind chatter for a little while then a gong bath will do just that for you. The power of the gong is due to the unique qualities of sound — which affect both your mind and body in a profound way. The sound of the gong can induce a meditative state as the sound waves wash over you and travel through you, vibrating every molecule inside your body. You might try and fight it but in the end you just have to switch off. Treat yourself to an hour where you don’t have to think about all the things that have been going on during the day and all the things you still need to do and join me for a magical hour of sound healing.
This ancient technique is used not merely to bathe you in sound....it’s about what it does on the inside. Sound energy can have a healing impact on many levels. Deep vibration can release the tension of muscles and pain, it massages the organs and rewires the brain which allows stress and anxiety to disappear.
For the gong bath all you need to do is turn up, lie down and get comfortable with blankets and pillows as you relax and “bathe” in the healing vibrations of sound. A number of different sounds and instruments will be played during this sound/gong bath, so you will experience many different vibrational frequencies washing over you.
This is a monthly event and I aim to run the sessions on the first Monday of every month but please do check the date on the event page as this is not always possible with Bank Holidays.
What you will need to bring with you...
- yoga mat or something to lie on for comfort
- 2 x bed pillows or cushions (for your head and beneath your knees so that your lower back can really relax)
- 1 x eye pillow or light scarf to cover your eyes
- 1 or 2 blankets - or something to cover yourself as your body temperature will drop as you relax
People coming along to these sessions often comment on feeling like they're coming for a sleepover with everything they bring but everyone is the same so don't worry. What's most important for these sessions is that you're comfortable when you lay down for an hour. Just wear what you are most comfortable in, some people come along in leggings and others in jeans.
H ow do I get to the venue?
The postcode for the venue is CV35 9AL.
'The Room at Moreton Morrell' is behind The Church of the Holy Cross, Main Street, Moreton Morrell. If you walk down the path as if you were going to the church and as soon as you walk past the entrance to the church you will see the entrance to the room at the back of the church where we will be. Parking is on the road outside the church as it is not a main road that is a cut through to anywhere so this is fine.
See images below of the path from the road that leads to the church and the entrance to the room at the back of the church.

An afternoon with Heather Clark: The Scrapbook, talk and signing | The American Book Center
Jul 8, 2025 (UTC+1)ENDED
Amsterdam
Join us for a signing and chat with award winning author, Heather Clark. She’ll be discussing her new novel, The Scrapbook. A complex look at the aftershocks of WW2 that still affect relationships, families and our sense of self, even today. Based on the real life wartime scrapbook of Clark’s GI grandfather, The Scrapbook is a fascinating, personal novel about the traumas of the past and their impact on the present. Heather Clark will be interviewed by Julie Phillips. About The Scrapbook: From the award-winning author of Red Comet: The Short Life and Blazing Art of Sylvia Plath, a stunning debut novel: the story of an intense first love haunted by history and family memory, inspired by the startling WWII scrapbook of Clark’s own grandfather, hidden in an attic until after his death. The traumas of the past and the aftershocks of fascism echo and reverberate through the present in this story of a life changing seduction. Harvard, 1996. Anna is about to graduate when she falls hard for Christoph, a visiting German student. Captivated by his beauty and intelligence, she follows him to Germany, where charming squares and grand facades belie the nation’s recent history and the war’s destruction. Christoph condemns his country’s actions but remains cryptic about the part his own grandfather played. Anna, meanwhile, cannot forget the photos taken by her American GI grandfather at the end of the war, preserved in a scrapbook only she has seen. As Anna travels back and forth to Germany to deepen her relationship with the elusive Christoph, her perspective is powerfully interrupted by chapters that follow both of their grandfathers during the war. One witnesses the plight of Holocaust victims in the days after liberation and helps capture Hitler’s Eagle’s Nest, while the other fights for Nazi Germany. Their fragmented stories haunt Anna and her lover two generations later—and may still tear them apart. Not a “World War Two novel” in the traditional sense, The Scrapbook delivers a consuming tale of first love, laced with a backstory of dark family legacies and historical conscience.

Rhino Dance Marathon: celebrating 30 years of the intuitive body | Space for Dance Art (Westbeat)
Jul 10–Jul 11, 2025 (UTC+1)ENDED
Amsterdam
Stap erin.
Rhino Dance Marathon is onderdeel van Julidans Festival 2025 ________________________________________________________________________ RHINO DANCE MARATHON 30 years of the power and vulnerability of the intuitive body On July 10 and 11, Space for Dance Art opens its doors for an adventurous evening: the Rhino Dance Marathon. A dynamic journey through dance, image, text, sound, and memory – drawn from three decades of dance practice by Emio Greco and Pieter C. Scholten. Don(na) Quichot kicks things off with a musical intervention. What follows is a living tapestry of scenes, images, and bodies that appear, disappear, and re-emerge in shifting constellations. Classics from thirty years of EG | PC are brought back to life. You’ll recognize fragments from Bianco, Extra Dry, One (Bolero), Conjunto di Nero, Rimasto Orfano, Hell, Teorema, and The Sopranos, performed by dancers from the current ICK Ensemble, ICK-Next, and former ICK dancers from the early years. There is also space for new voices and fresh ferocity – in works by creators such as Melisa Diktas, Fernando Troya, and David Feenstra, who pick up threads from ICK’s past and pull them into the now. You’ll encounter objects and motifs from earlier performances – the gate and tree from Hell, the glass sphere from In Visione, the sweat-soaked dress from ROSSO – and see film clips from the Jean Paul Gaultier fashion show. A VR headset shifts your perspective and transports you to a timeless, ever-present performance space. In the black box, you’ll come across an AI installation that responds live to a dancer’s intuition. Every space opens a different experience, with its own laws of time, rhythm, and intensity. The Rhino Dance Marathon is not a performance, but a movement. Step inside. Rhino Dance Marathon is part of Julidans Festival 2025 Why the Rhino?
Throughout the evening, you’ll experience both the strength and vulnerability of the body — symbolised by the rhinoceros, a recurring figure in the work of EG | PC. In Addio alla Fine, the rhino is cast off into a lifeboat, a burden to high society. But when the boat sinks, he survives together with a journalist. They travel toward the horizon: the rhino as a sign of a new beginning.

LUISTER JE WEL? VERKEERDE GESPREKSTECHNIEKEN gaat over hoe mensen langs elkaar heen praten.
Over Jonge Harten
