Tilda Swinton | Eye Film Museum
Sep 28, 2025–Feb 8, 2026 (UTC+1)
Amsterdam
For Eye, the iconic British actor Tilda Swinton is making an exclusive, immersive exhibition featuring new works. This exhibition will explore her autobiography, using as a starting point the artistic collaborations that have been integral to her career. Swinton pushes the boundaries of the sometimes limited role of the actor, inviting visitors on a sensory journey that celebrates co-creation, the synergy between director and actor, and the influence of various art forms. This project pays tribute to the spirit of ‘renewal through connectivity’ that has defined Swinton’s remarkable career.
The Eye cinemas will screen a selection of short and feature-length films in which Swinton plays a leading role. Additionally, the programme will reexamine the work of Derek Jarman, who was pivotal to Swinton’s artistic development, and Joanna Hogg, a childhood friend with whom she has recently collaborated. The selection will also include masterclasses and ‘Eye on Art’ performances exploring her collaborations with Derek Jarman, Pedro Almodóvar and Apichatpong Weerasethakul, focusing on the dynamic between actor and director in collective artistic processes.

CROSSINGS Photography from the Indian subcontinent | Rijksmuseum
Jul 4–Oct 12, 2025 (UTC+1)
Amsterdam
The exhibition presents a dialogue between 19th-century British colonial photography and contemporary work by the French-Sri Lankan artist Vasantha Yogananthan.
The Rijksmuseum photography collection holds some 1200 images from 19th-century India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Bhutan. Many of these images were commissioned for European and American audiences who knew very little about the countries and regions they depict. The photographs supposedly presented an objective view of the world, but now we can see how they clearly reflected the interests of the people who commissioned them.
Crossings presents the selection of colonial images alongside photographs by Yogananthan, who, more than a century later, visited the same areas to explore his own background.

Artist Statement & Bio Writing | The Mill Gallery
Jul 30, 2025 (UTC+0)
Mill
Do you dread writing about your work? You’re not alone. This workshop is designed to help artists of all disciplines craft clearer, more authentic artist statements and bios that reflect both their creative voice and professional identity. We’ll explore what makes an effective artist statement and how it can evolve depending on context—whether it’s for a funding application, exhibition, publication, or your website. You’ll be guided through exercises that help you identify the core themes, questions, and materials in your practice, and how to express them in a way that feels honest and engaging without becoming overly academic or abstract. In the second half, we’ll tackle writing your artist bio—short, punchy, and to the point, but still full of personality. You'll leave the session with a stronger sense of your artistic voice, a solid draft of your statement and bio, and tips for keeping them fresh and adaptable for future use. This is a relaxed, no-judgement space where experimentation and messy first drafts are encouraged. Bring a notebook, your past statements (if you have them), and an openness to rethinking how you present your practice. This workshop is heavily subsidised, but not free, thanks to the generous funding from Leeds Council. In order to keep the workshop accessible to all, we offer three ticket tiers based on your income: £5, £10, and £15, plus the Eventbrite booking fee. We ask that you choose the ticket that best reflects what you can afford, so we can continue offering affordable opportunities for everyone. Your support helps us keep these sessions running for the creative community. About the Project The Resilient Artist Cohort is a free, artist-led development programme supporting six Leeds-based artists through mentoring, skill-sharing workshops, and hands-on exhibition experience. EETVERHALEN #7 | Theatervoorstelling BODEM-BUIK-BREIN | Oldehoofsterkerkhof
Jul 31, 2025 (UTC+1)
Leeuwarden
