Underlying all patriarchal infrastructures, there is a group of “ultra beings” who have recognised the corruption within these systems, and are actively eroding their foundations. Ultra Beings is a serial program that pairs women and gender-queer feminist artists from similar/different backgrounds to collectively envision a feminist future and build lasting connections. The first edition of the program will run through September and October. In October, the program Ultra Beings: O makes space for a new and promising collaboration between artists Leyli Rashidirauf and Yitu Wang. They both create from a deeply embodied experience and find ways to share this with the audience in poetic and powerful ways. As a tangible connection between their cultures and practices they use the symbol O as a signifier for wholeness. Vocally through sound, abstractly through its shape and through its use in the Farsi language as a universal pronoun. Van tennisrackets, nieuwe fietshelmen voor de kinderen, buitenspeelgoed tot aan sportbroeken of een paar Reebok sportschoenen; je vindt van alles op de markt. Alle spullen zijn nog goed. Sommige spullen zijn hergebruikt, anderen nog gloednieuw. Zorg dus dat je er op tijd bent, zodat de mooiste spullen nog niet weg zijn. Je bent welkom om deze te bekijken en voor een symbolisch minimaal bedrag (van €0,50, €1, €2 of €5) aan te schaffen als jij ze goed kunt gebruiken. Je kunt met PIN betalen maar ook contant. Let wel op: neem gepast geld mee als je contant wilt betalen. Het evenement is circulair, neem je zelf een tas mee? Tijdens de markt zijn er ook meerdere activiteiten om te doen. Familievoorstelling naar het beroemde boek van Jan Terlouw! De vrolijke koning van het land Katoren is gestorven, zes zure ministers regeren het land en hebben helemaal geen zin in een nieuwe koning. Maar in de nacht dat de oude koning sterft, wordt Stach geboren. Hij wil de nieuwe koning van Katoren worden. Dat laten de ministers niet zomaar gebeuren; Stach moet zeven haast onmogelijke opdrachten vervullen voor hij koning kan worden. De draak van Smook verslaan, de granaatappelboom stoppen, vogels van Decibel stil krijgen en nog een paar opdrachten die nog nooit iemand heeft volbracht. Stach is vastbesloten! Het land is lang genoeg geregeerd door zuurpruimen; het wordt tijd voor meer vrolijkheid! Zijn doorzettingsvermogen en optimisme steekt de bevolking van Katoren aan en langzamerhand begint iedereen te geloven dat Stach de nieuwe koning wordt. Maar of de ministers dat laten gebeuren? Koning van Katoren is een spannende voorstelling en misschien wel actueler dan ooit, want thema’s als onbegrip tussen mensen, wapenwedloop en gebrek aan samenwerking bij het oplossen van problemen staan centraal.
