Staying in hotels in the UK, especially during summer, it's a real gamble whether you'll get decent air conditioning and a working elevator. On this trip, I've stayed at numerous hotels, various brands – all chosen for their good value for money, naturally!
Our first stop, the Kensington Palace Hotel, initially gave us a room with problems, and the following day, our new room lacked air conditioning. Then at the Holiday Inn Cambridge, the lobby felt really impressive, but to my surprise, the AC was broken. The room was stuffy and hot, so we had to escape to the lobby for a beer. Luckily, London nights were quite cool, even getting a bit chilly in the early hours.
It wasn't until we arrived at the Cotswolds Hotel & Spa. Although it also lacked AC, it had a balcony. We could just leave the door open, and since UK temperatures aren't actually that high, the room stayed cool, especially with the balcony door open to let in the breeze! And while there wasn't a regular elevator, there was a mobility lift that went up to the second floor. Unfortunately, we were on the third, so we still had to climb.
Despite these minor quirks, this hotel was by far our favorite on the trip. The room was incredibly spacious, featuring a large bed, a smaller bed, and even a sofa bed. The balcony overlooked a lovely green expanse. Our family spent time on the balcony playing cards, so much so that we almost didn't want to go out sightseeing!
I also want to give a big shout-out to Trip.com. Their service was truly exceptional throughout my journey. I lost count of how many times I called them, and without fail, they resolved every single one of my issues. Definitely a huge thumbs up! 👍👍👍
Everything about the hotel was great, except for its slightly remote location. The room was spacious enough, the staff had a wonderful attitude, and there's a gas station nearby, along with a KFC, Starbucks, and two convenience stores, making shopping and dining quite convenient. The super large bed was incredibly comfortable!
The amenities are relatively new and well-maintained. The place was spotless. The surroundings are quite pleasant; they offer their own parking facilities, though it is paid parking. Service was acceptable, with many Indian staff members and one or two Chinese employees.
The location is very good, just turn around the high speed, it is very suitable for overnight rest! The front desk has already prepared the room card and is still waiting for us at two in the morning! The hotel room is clean and quiet! There is free parking!
The bathroom and linens were quite clean. However, the room was a bit on the small side, making it a tight squeeze to fully open our luggage. As for breakfast, don't set your expectations high; it's pretty much standard fare for hotels across the UK. It's ideal if you're driving, as free parking is available. The area around the hotel is very quiet, and the room itself had excellent soundproofing.
Around 30 minutes by car away from Oxford city area via motorway. Offered free parking in front of the hotel. Suitable for who is traveling by cars.
Add on 10 pounds for the breakfast. Variety is limited yet good enough to start a day with it.
Room itself is wide and clean, just Marriott standards so need need to worry.
Beautiful place in the midst of town. Very quiet and quaint, blends into the atmosphere of Oxford town. Running route behind hotel connects beautifully to the river and there are horses on the estate.
A special thanks to Emily for her excellent service. She responded to my emails quickly and handled my requests with great care. We had a wonderful experience. The room was beautiful and thoughtfully prepared. The hotel has a charming, castle-like vintage style, and the surroundings are lovely. The breakfast and dinner and lunch were also great—highly recommended! Thanks again, Emily!
We love staying at Voco! My 2nd time, love it!
We booked the wrong room, but we were eventually given the largest room in the hotel. Very satisfied with our stay

GGuest UserThe hotel in general has good facilities, staff are polite except the lady who checked in for us on our first night. There was some confusion between the booking at the trip.com and the hotel, but the receptionist was being rude and stated that only booking for 2 adults can be seen on their system and wouldn’t check us in while we paid for the extra kid. While we understood she was doing her work, her attitude appeared cold and rude and not helpful. Apart from that, the stay was pleasant.

GGuest UserQuite conveniently located on the M40 with all the services and a large food court.
About a 20 min drive from Oxford City Center however and getting about can be a problem given the lack of apps like Uber in Oxford.
Also important to note there’s no lift in the property so for somebody with heavy luggage, it could be a deal breaker.
Rooms quite decent otherwise for the price.
