Popped in for lunch and a drink whilst visiting the island. Food was average and the service appalling from both members of staff we interacted with. Definitely suggest trying one of the other places on the island and giving this one a miss. Really disappointing

My hubby and I are hoping to return to Lindisfarne. We did not have the time we needed to see everything on this visit (without missing the opportunity to drive off the island before the tide rose to cut off the road!). So we will be back and hope to stay the night, but I can guarantee we will not be seeking rooms at this hotel based on our dining experience. The bar/restaurant is open throughout the day, but it must be terribly understaffed since finding someone to wait on the several couples in line at our arrival time (just before noon) was excruciatingly long. When the man did show up at the bar, he was disinterested and mildly condescending. Between orders he would disappear for long periods. The sandwiches were passable but, honestly, not worth the wait nor were they special in any way. The best part of the whole experience was getting out of the shabby restaurant and sitting outside to enjoy the weather (so, there's that positive). Also, the carrot cake wasn't bad. Before leaving, we used the toilets, and they could use a deep cleaning. While sitting outside, we noticed greenery growing out of the eaves and the need of a fresh paint job, all of which screamed to us that the hotel needs some TLC, some elbow grease, and an update.

11:30 am on Thursday. 1 guy serving in the bar, queue of 12, everyone wanted coffee, long wait! No other staff around, surely the owners check tide times & weather re staffing levels?? Based on this visit I don’t think they do. The guy serving (older chap with beard) was doing a good job to be fair, he was apologising & trying his best. Just had tea & a beer, didn’t risk anything else as we thought we’d miss the crossing time!

Normally dine here when visiting the island. On this day they weren’t serving till 1:00pm. Consequently the place was packed with people milling about anxious for lunch. Whether this was policy or staffing no one said. Customers were getting menus to order only to have them snatched back off the tables by ill tempered staff. We asked whether we could preorder to reduced the queue to be told no. At 12:50 it was announced that food would be available in 10 mins. This provoked a mad dash to the bar where customers were told it was too early. Eventually we were allowed at 12:56. A shambles which could have easily been avoided with a little thought. The table was cleared by the same surly waitress. Not a good impression. We will think again before another visit. Shame!

We stopped off for a late lunch here with our dogs and we weren't disappointed. We grabbed a seat in the garden as the weather was lovely and ordered fish and chips and a chicken burger. The food arrived promptly and staff were very friendly and polite. We will definitely be returning here!

I had my dad crying at home for two hours because the only thing he wanted was some calamari and he thought the meal he got was terrible. He was in tears over it and ended up going to Morrisons to buy his own calamari whilst still saying that it really upset him that the meal was bad.

We stayed for one night after walking St Cuthbert’s Way. Room was fine if a bit small, and a bit dated. Dinner was good and service good. Breakfast was fine (the berry compote shoukd have been taken out of the freezer earlier). Overall it felt as though the staff were doing a job not providing service. Checkout was about two hours before we were able to leave. It is a real shame they do not have a lounge where residents can sit and get a coffee, or just wait until they can leave. The bar was locked. Basically felt like you were expected to leave the hotel and not be a nuisance. I had an injured foot, I could have done with some rest rather than wondering around the island and aggravating it more.

Great afternoon spent on Holy Island, called into here for lunch and would definitely go again. Excellent service, background music was great and food was delicious. Staff were very friendly, although it was clearly very busy. Would recommend

The most unfriendly staff I've ever encountered. We arrived from one of the Billy shiels tours at 3:45 on Sunday, and asked what time they were serving food until. We were told 4pm, and so therefore qued (the que was tiny, around 3 people deep) - and food was a must at 6.5 months pregnant! A female member of staff seemed to mutter something under her breath to the other staff member. At this point someone in the que asked what was said and they proceed to say - no more food... at 3:50. No apologies, no closing the que after those who had been waiting and told could order, no offer of just cold food etc. Nothing. At this point we now could not even try anywhere else on the island as everywhere had stopped serving by 4pm. Our trip included an 81 year old woman and myself heavily pregnant and like I say, no common courtesy or customer service was shown at all. Even just a friendlier way of communicating would have gone a long way!!! Will never return. Avoid!! There are much friendlier places on the island, that deserve your custom so much more. Try the resteraunt near by, which is a 3 minute walk away.
