Macdonald Bath Spa Hotel

After visiting the University of Bath for meetings and to see our students, we were delighted to stay at this beautifully decorated hotel. The value for money was excellent. Sydney Gardens is nearby, and it takes just over 15-20 minutes to walk into the city centre. We really enjoyed the walk and found the route back to the hotel just as pleasant. The spa was one of our favourite features. It has two saunas: a Finnish-style sauna and another with a Japanese feel. There is also an ice room with ice and cold water, which is wonderfully refreshing after warming up in the sauna. For a moment, it felt as though we had been transported to Japan or Finland! The outdoor spa area is small but very well equipped. I only wish the swimming pool were larger; doubling its size would make the experience even more comfortable for everyone. Another lovely surprise was the choice of steam rooms, including an aromatherapy steam room and a salt steam room. These are unusual facilities to find in the UK and made our spa visit feel especially memorable. We were lucky to have a room overlooking the beautiful garden and pine trees. It was a lovely view, and the room also had a coffee machine and a selection of current magazines. There were a couple of areas that could be improved. The toilet made a rather unusual flushing noise, perhaps because of the age of the building, so it would be good to see the flushing system updated. The bathroom could also have been cleaner in some areas. We also enjoyed afternoon tea in the hotel. The historic building gave it a wonderful sense of British tradition, although our scones were a little hard. The waiter was very kind and brought us two French macarons instead, which was a thoughtful gesture. Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay and would happily return the next time we visit the University of Bath.

I had a truly disappointing and bizarre experience at this hotel. When an issue arose regarding our stay, instead of resolving it with basic customer service standards, the staff completely lost their professionalism and escalated the situation unnecessarily. Shockingly, when we tried to communicate reasonably, multiple staff members became confrontational and dramatically claimed they would "see us in court." Threatening paying guests with legal action over routine service issues is not only absurd and unprofessional, but also shows a severe lack of proper management and staff training. A hospitality brand should focus on guest satisfaction, not intimidation. I strongly advise prospective guests to think twice before staying here—there are far better alternatives with staff who actually understand basic customer service.

Enjoyed the stay. I came here with two friends and I stayed in a room by myself. Spacious and clean room even tho some touch up in the bathroom would be nice. Very friendly staff from the moment we checked in till we checked out. Lovely spa facilities. Beautiful hotel. Safe area as we walked to the city centre and back at different times. Quiet but safe.

It was a truly magical experience! Felt like I was living a fairytale! Amaziing hotel, amazing staff! I am definitely going back soon!

Very nic

Great stay, great location just a 15 min walk into city centre. Rooms good size but could do with a bit of an update and so could spa/ swimming pool area, but a nice bonus to have those facilities. Staff very helpful and friendly. Stayed for two night unfortunately one night could hear guests walking by talking at 6am and then the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night the next stay so was slightly interrupted which wasn’t ideal. Beds were very comfy though. Would come back again to stay if I revisited bath.

Beautiful hotel , it is a bit tired in places but it does not spoil the experience . Rooms beey clean and comfortable , spa was lovely and pool was nice and warm . We would return .
