Capital Hotel（the Forbidden City，Tiananmen）

The hotel's ambiance is great, and the staff are always smiling and very friendly. Most importantly, the location is superb; we could walk to watch the flag-raising ceremony! Before checking out and heading home, we caught Beijing's first snowfall, and the courtyard was absolutely beautiful. It really made me appreciate the incredible aesthetics of our ancestors!

I booked this hotel to watch the flag-raising ceremony at Tiananmen Square. It's within walking distance to Tiananmen Square. The bedding is comfortable, especially the pillows. The subway station is quite far, so it's not very convenient for subway travel. The hotel breakfast is very average and not worth the price.

Traveling solo, I chose Capital Hotel. Its location is excellent; the Forbidden City and the National Museum are both within a 20-minute walk. The staff is highly professional and responsive to requests. Rooms on the left side offer views of the Temple of Heaven, while those on the right overlook the Forbidden City. The rooms have an 'old money' vibe – traditional but clean, and very spacious. Breakfast was also good; I usually find Beijing hotel breakfasts quite poor, but this one was decent, and the pork rib noodles were delicious. I would definitely choose this hotel again if I'm visiting the Forbidden City.

This review is honest and objective, and any Trip.com staff member who followed up on this stay can corroborate it. In a nutshell, it's all glitz and no substance. The hygiene is abysmal, the service is almost non-existent, and while the hardware is old but presentable, the software is a complete failure. If you encounter any problems during your stay, don't expect any solutions. The risk of a terrible experience is extremely high, so choose with caution!!! Hygiene: Extremely bad. I booked this for a client, and during the stay, a colleague helped them pack. To summarize, during their stay, the client himself experienced dizziness and bloodshot eyes in the room, his wife had a localized facial allergy, and his mother suffered from severe coughing. My accompanying colleague also started coughing non-stop after returning. This stay was the client's second day of their trip to Beijing, and they did not experience any similar symptoms at other hotels (a total of 5) during their time in Beijing... _The hotel insisted that its hygiene was fine but could not provide any reasonable explanation for the issues reported. There was no concern or apology, and no solutions were offered. Their only stance was for the guests to go to the hospital themselves, and throughout the communication, they never offered any assistance, completely lacking in warmth. Facilities: The hotel's booking page engaged in false advertising. The 'Forbidden City explanation' and 'daily stewed soup' were not true. The activity interface didn't explain things clearly, and the front desk didn't clarify during check-in either. Furthermore, information about the hotel's dining, fitness, and other facilities was never provided. Service: Aside from a few enthusiastic concierge staff, everyone else had an arrogant, condescending attitude, far from the service standards expected of a five-star hotel. As mentioned earlier, if you encounter problems during your stay, they won't proactively offer help; they'll just emphasize their operational management rules. If you can't comply, you're on your own... There's no respect or value for guests. 'Customer first' simply doesn't exist at this hotel...

Exceeded my expectations! I'd read some mixed reviews online, but because of its great location, I decided to book this hotel. We opted for a deluxe room with breakfast, and after my actual stay, I just had to share my real experience – it was completely different from what I expected, and absolutely fantastic! The cleanliness was truly impeccable. The room was bright and spotless, and the bedding felt crisp, soft, and comfortable. Even the public areas were meticulously maintained; you could tell the daily cleaning was done with great care. Though, I know everyone has different sensitivities when it comes to cleanliness! The facilities and service were incredibly thoughtful too! During check-in, the front desk lady proactively informed us about breakfast times and location, and even reminded us about the complimentary wellness soup the hotel offers – so warm and considerate! She also gave us a little 'warm reminder' note with all the activities clearly listed, providing plenty of information. Every staff member we encountered throughout our stay was incredibly polite, from the bellboy at the entrance to the front desk and house-keeping staff; their attitudes were all excellent. Once, when I asked about nearby attractions, they patiently explained for quite a while. I never experienced any of the 'indifference' or 'haughtiness' some reviews mentioned; my experience was truly top-notch. Honestly, hotel experiences are always subjective. Depending on the check-in time or the staff you encounter, your feelings might vary. If you've already paid for your stay, you just want peace of mind and comfort! I often see complaints online about people having allergies or demanding refunds, and honestly, I can't relate to that. In summary, all the service staff were polite and highly professional. Based on my experience, this hotel is definitely worth recommending – hope this helps anyone planning a trip!
