We’ve just checked out from the Sol Principe and have had a good stay, the rooms are comfy, the partial sea view still allows for a great view, the rooms were kept clean with fresh towels daily and soap / shampoo provided. The app/website was a nice touch making it easy to see what was on and when different bars were open etc and provided a full menu of all inclusive drinks so there’s no guesswork! You can even order stuff to your room such as ironing boards and shaving kits or toothbrushes if you forget yours which was handy! The food was also really tasty and we never went hungry with branded drinks as well, all in all it made for a really good stay. But…. Just a few things let the side down, firstly with the drinks. When you pay to go all inclusive there is a rule of 3 when it comes to drinks. 3 drinks per order, which is rather ridiculous when we came as a couple and take it in turns to go to the bar, each getting 4 drinks at a time, 2 each to maximise time on the sunbed and not getting up to go to the bar! I can also imagine this to be quite frustrating when your a family of 4 or more, having to make multiple trips. Even when the bar was quiet with no one else around some bar tenders would insist on you putting your drinks down on another table and returning to the empty bar! This rule also doesn’t apply if you are paying for drinks! So their reasoning of it being to reduce wait times at the bar seems rather ridiculous. Having paid for drinks in advance you are treated differently to those who pay for drinks as they go, with table service available for those paying but not for all inclusive guests. Our other bug bearer was sunbeds. Around the main pool there are simply not enough sun beds. And whilst there is a rule that the pool doesn’t open until 11am and gates are kept locked to stop people putting towels down, this is not enforced and everyday we came down, those staying in the family rooms who could just hop over their balcony, had already bagged the best beds. We weren’t even here during peak time, I’d hate to see what it was like during the summer holidays. The entertainment…it’s nothing to write home about, it’s great for kids but adults be prepared to bring extra spends and seek entertainment outside the hotel, unless a magic show or rendition of the greatest showman are your thing! Also to note is that regardless of what time you check in, on check out at 12 that’s it you aren’t allowed any other meals etc. even though we were willing to pay for a late check out if one had been available. We checked in at about 11pm on Tuesday due to a late flight so missed dinner despite having paid for it, and when we checked out on Sunday at 12pm we weren’t allowed dinner before we headed to the airport at 8pm. We tried to explain but there was no movement or reasoning with staff. It’s things like this that really let the side down, and make it feel more like a 3* than a 4*. We have had much better service at other 4*s. Overall we would come bac
