A mixed experience. Some good points about this place but some areas for improvement. The pub area is dog friendly. About 4 tables in this area. The music was really loud, too loud to speak to each other. Our peas were cold. When we were asked is everything OK we said this, but it wss half way through our meal, the waitress changed mood and we certainly didn't feel like we could stay or return. Fish and chips were hot, quite nice besides this though. Payment was before meal. It is scruffy round the edges and I can see work is going on to renovate it. But if they offered takeaway it would be a gold mine! Nobody in the restaurant area, so maybe the pub area should be expanded as it was abit squashed

Tried to contact them via email, no reply. When I called, I was told that the hotel doesn't have 'rooms' any more, these were converted to apartments, with a minimum of 3 nights stay. None of which is on the website which seems very misleading.

Been on Arran a few times now and always stop at this hotel. Very relaxed friendly staff and customers. Enjoyed our time. A few people mention the look, it is in the process of renovation and definitely far from the worst I've seen on the island. Will definitely be back on Arran and to this hotel for a drink. Only thing I'd mention is no steak meals although the meals are just right.

This is the saddest story on Arran! A once fantastic old school bar and restaurant, went downhill over the last few years and is now terrible. A privileged position on the most perfect spot and ran into the ground. Looks run down (although I think they are attempting to renovate slowly themselves, but are unable to fix a door) menu is basic rubbish on a chalk board yet they have a separate‘restaurant’ for the same bog standard food. Horrible atmosphere, freezing, grubby and even the gorgeous view was ruined by windows that haven’t been clean in who knows how long. Can’t believe I took my family out of our way for an evening here. The best thing was the view on the way out.

Read the negative reviews but decided to make our own mind up from our own experience...glad we did. Went for an evening meal here, was greeted straight away by a lovely friendly staff member who went above and beyond to make sure we had a good time. The food was delicious, it was well presented, hot, plentyful and flavoursome. Restaurant area was clean, tidy and well set out with lovely tableware. Only fault was the enterance was not clearly marked from the carpark so we walked about the buildings until we finally found the way in.

Lured by rumours of seals moving round to the main beach we stopped by today. The place looks unkempt & rundown so don't belive many of the pictures still posted. But we persisted & called in at the bar/bistro for a drink while a short squall passed over. Really wish we hadn't: inside was almost as sorry as outside. Not so much rundown as exhausted, inside would have lacked atmosphere when full but as it was the staff outnumbered us 2:1. Initially ignored by gossiping staff we were served but went it came we got the wrong coffee with the wrong milk. Beware if you have intolerances! Then we made the mistake odmf using g the facilities - clearly the place was undergoing renovation but into what I'm not sure. Nothing we saw would encourage us to book. Honestly & really sadly one to avoid!

Not what I remember this hotel to be. We have been before & had good & bad experiences. This time has got to have been the worst. We ordered lunch which consisted of 2 uncooked/raw beef burgers, fried onions rings from the Co-Op & jalapeño poppers. The staff were good at rectifying the uncooked burgers but it put us off. Outside the grounds were unkempt looking, which was not like that pre covid. The hotel inside was undergoing works. The toilets were foul. No hot water, hand dryer not working, water running out side of sink, bugs crawling, generally needing a major upgrade. Such a shame that it’s went so bad for this hotel, but we won’t be back. Already had a bad experience with this hotel few years ago & it did get better. Unfortunately, it’s one to miss on your trip to Arran. The hotel would be better closed to undergo maintenance/upgrades than open with terrible reviews.

On Arran for a week at the lovely campsite next door. Went almost every night for a drink. Felt very welcome and friendly owners. Even played pool with the locals and won so will be back for a rematch for you to get your own back. See you soon 😊 😊
