Toiyabe Motel

I needed a hotel between Tahoe and Mammoth for the night that wouldn’t break the bank. This motel more than delivered. Nice room and very reasonable price.

A nice quiet getaway in a quaint little town. They got me in right away and it was a comfortable stay! Definitely would book again!

Very clean and nice with a table and two chairs, beautiful wood paneling. BUT, this motel is very recently under new ownership. The management/owner was very disinterested and not helpful at all. I don't think the place will stay so nice based on their attitude. For instance, our curtain was stuck on the pole and wouldn't open properly, nor close on the side enough to prevent people from seeing in. It had been jerry-rigged somehow. Room is cooled with a swamp cooler, which is ok but don't expect AC, though we didn't need it. There's a very good heater in the room. It's a simple room, but the price is very fair accordingly. However, because of the new owner's attitude, I don't expect the place will have the same quality in a year or so.

Room was very crowded for two queen beds. No AC, just cooler and wall heater. No table, no chairs. For the price paid, i expected more. Clean. Had hot water.

Nice little roadside motel. Small room but comfortable. There was something mechanical on the roof that made a light banging noise when the wind blew but not really enough to keep me awake. Dog friendly.

The motel is quiet, cozy, clean with a friendly environment. We appreciated the owners reaching out to us on the day of check-in by email to tell us that both restaurants in town were closed that night. The rooms are small but well appointed and the motel seems lovingly cared for

Quaint, cozy, clean room with friendly knowledgeable staff. Our room was like a cool 1950s cabin with wifi, coffee maker, and microwave. Great value and interesting court yard. Their motto is Come as strangers and leave as friends. Dinner down the road at Coachwhip was lovely. I recommend the fried Cauliflower and there are lots of meat choices.

We stayed here for one night on a 2 week road trip. The room was a bit small, but other then that had everything we needed. Small fridge, coffee maker, shower with good water flow. The bed was quite comfortable and the wifi worked well. The location is lovely with hills behind the property and open meadows across the road. The property is on a fairly busy road, 395, but there is room to walk on the shoulder to a few places to eat close by. There is a local market that is very well stocked and serves as a hardware store 5 minute walk from the property. The grounds of the motel are nice, with a central court yard with tables and chairs to sit out and picnic. The staff was very friendly. Hard to describe what it is that makes this older, creeky place so special, but basically it has a lot of character and charm that is kept clean and has everything you will need for an enjoyable stay

We spent 2 nights here on Aug. 6 + 7th while we were in the area & couldn't have been happier with our stay here, it is a small motel ran by a very nice couple, the room was great, had a small refrigerator & microwave with plenty of room. It was very hot while we were there & unlike the previous review our swamp cooler(air conditioner) worked great, we left for the day & forgot we had it turned up to high & it was freezing in the room when we got back, we would DEFINITELY stay here again if we are in the area!
