Situated in a beautiful historic neighborhood not far off of I-95 this sprawling manor is everything you could want for a luxurious evening. We were driving from the northeast to Florida and looking for somewhere to spend the night that was off the beaten trail and quiet and comfortable. In addition to being a stunning home that was built in the early 1900’s the restaurant in the home is outstanding. We enjoyed a fantastic 6 course dinner in a peaceful environment. Our host was wonderful and our room was spotless and comfortable. We plan to stop back there next time we are passing through. This is a hidden gem!

I’ve thought for a long time about this review as I want to be objective. The physical plant is quite nice. Clean spacious room and nice common areas. The owners attitude and the food were not acceptable. I had told them about my wife’s food issues and that she had the same entree(salmon) for dinner and lunch the day before. At first the hostess said she would try to provide something else, but never did. The salmon at dinner was awful. A thin dried out piece with a few tasteless vegetables and some bland rice. A roll was provided but when I asked for another I was told there was only one per person! Asked for salad with no dressing but came dressed and again, no other one was available. Tablespoon of soup and sorbet OK. Dessert-breadpudding OK but couldn’t have coffee or tea with it as we were told they were only served in the parlor. Overall dinner, $84pp was at the level of school cafeteria. Breakfast worse! Only dish besides some barely acceptable fruit salad was quiche; after telling host we don’t eat eggs. No toast, cold cereal, yogurt, etc. Finally after asking they served us 2 “crescent rolls.” Not even real croissants. The hosts should stay at a Hampton Inn to see how breakfast should be served. Checkout was “cold” without any offer to help with our bags. Don’t know if this was their usual way of treating guests but I did notice that the host interacted with other guests in a more friendly manner. Quite simply we were made to feel “tolerated” not as valued guests. I would avoid this property at all costs!

I found Abington through an EV charging app. I was looking for somewhere about halfway from the Hamptons, NY to Naples, FL with an EV charger. There are plenty of choices among Hampton Inns and Holiday Inns but Abingdon stood out as something different. For only a bit more money, the experience was worlds above the typical chain hotels that you see. The Inn itself was lovely with all you would expect in a B&B. Everything was well restored and very clean. They have all the amenities that you would find in nicer hotels but are often absent in B&B’s. They even offer complimentary snacks. But what really made Abingdon special was the very friendly innkeepers, Michael and Patty. Both went out of their way to be sure my short stay was comfortable. And the included hot breakfast and optional dinner were really award-winning meals that rival what you would find in the best restaurants around the world. My reason for staying there was to charge my car, which I did. But I found so much more. I’ll be back. I often get asked to write reviews of places I stay but usually I don’t find the time to do so. Abingdon is so special that I wanted to write this review.

Lovely antebellum manor with charming common rooms full of architectural interest. Large spacious bedrooms with updated newer baths. Luxury soap products and plenty of towels. Pat the innkeeper greeted us and spent a long time giving us the history of the house and area. So interesting and very kind of him. Breakfast of delicious homemade quiche, etc with excellent service. It even had a Tesla charger we could use! Why stay at a chain hotel when you can stay at this inn which is only 10 minutes from I-95. We can’t wait to return.

My husband and I celebrated a birthday at this beautiful B&B. Pat was a gracious and a wonderful host as well as a ONE Man team for Friday night dinner. Never missed a beat. All the breakfast menus were spectacular. We were able to spend three nights and it was a very quiet and relaxing time. It is a great location for Myrtle Beach and Conway as well as Florence. Thank you so much Pat. We will see you again. Gordon and Connie

I have previously eaten at the Manor, and it was exceptional under the management of Michael and Patty Griffey. My husband and I recently stayed the night and ate at the Manor under the new innkeeper, Pat. We walked inside and were left waiting for over 20 minutes for Pat to appear, so we could check in. Finally, we decided to walk around to see if we could find him. We found Pat in the back hastily stuffing tobacco dip into his mouth. Pat reeked of cigarette smoke, and he was extremely disorganized, disoriented, and unhelpful, overall. The only ones who seemed to know anything about the Manor were our servers. These young ladies were extremely helpful, sweet, and thoughtful throughout the visit. I walked back to the kitchen to ask Pat, who is apparently the chef as well, a question before the main entree was served. Let me tell you about this horror! He describes dirty dishes all over the counters. Pat eating food off of spoons and laying them back in the pot. Food all over the floor. A PUNGENT smell of rotten meat which I can only assume was the steak lying on the counter. I was HORRIFIED. I am shocked this establishment is not crawling with roaches and other bugs with the state of the kitchen. I could not bring myself to eat the entree or dessert. Not to mention, the previous courses were sub-par, to say the least. Not worth my money! It is safe to say, I have never been to a place like this before. My husband and I certainly wish it was still under the previous ownership!!! If Pat keeps this up, he will not have ANY more customers. I am disgusted.

We returned to Abingdon Manor because of our first visit several years ago. On arrival we first noticed the house was dull. Everything needed painting, at the very least cleaning thoroughly. The beautiful house just looked dull. We sat and waited for someone to arrive to check us in. 15 mins after our appointed arrival time our ‘host’ arrived, and explained that he forgot to put the AC on in the rooms ( at the height of summer(!) and rushed off to do so, leaving my husband and I and two other couples waiting again. Pat, the new owner reeked of smoke … and his lackluster attempt to give us a history of the place ( while the AC kicked in upstairs) was given like a teacher who’d rather be at home. The room was lovely, with new bathroom. But the air conditioner with its hose hanging out the window was as noisy as a cheap hotel. The 6 course meal was a good try…..but nothing my high school kids couldn’t put together. Two young girls serving were very sweet, but so inexperienced for the manor that we visited years before. Breakfast was an audible gasp from all. Scrambles eggs, burned bacon, and badly cooked hash browns. That’s it. Before we had Crab Eggs Benedict with stuffed mushrooms et al. One last thing. A cocktail gathering was set for 6:30pm. No one showed up!!!! Everyone attended this during our last visit. The hosts were wonderful and interactive. We never saw Pat again until it was time to pay $$$$ Very sad. The house has so much to offer, and in the right hands could be a hot spot in SC

The Inn is not what it used to be. A new owner purchased it in July 2022. The inn is still beautiful but the meals (breakfast and dinner) were just average while they were exceptional under the old owner. The new owner is a smoker so the back of the inn reeks of smoke. It is no longer worth the cost of the stay

Great place to stay and eat in beautiful Latta, SC. We were on our way to the beach and decided to stop and celebrate my wife's birthday with a stay and dinner at the Abingdon. I highly recommend the inn for its accommodations and its wonderful dinners and breakfast. Not a lot of competition in the area but the Inn matches up with other similar style B&B's throughout the US. I highly recommend a night at the Abingdon if you are ever in the Latta area.
