Horizont Hotel

For the first time I ventured to choose a hotel, despite not very flattering reviews. It is located literally 30 meters from the main street. Near the market and many shops and cafes. Surrounded by residential multi-storey buildings. The hotel is among them, like in a well. To the sea really no more than five minutes on foot. Yes, the path is not very clean. 50 meters .. So yes: 4 stars for this hotel is a lot. But they are a good trio. The all inclusive system offers breakfast, lunch, lunch and dinner. There is a free bar by the pool: beer, wine, simple but strong enough cocktails. There is a bar in the lobby of the hotel for a fee. Water coolers are available in the lobby, dining room and bar. If you want to drink there, if you want, pour it with you. The food is quite decent, we had enough of everything and it was delicious: two or three types of meat, fish every day (there were also mussels), vegetables, side dishes, sauces, soups, sweets, fruits. For lunch there were fruit salads and ice cream, in addition to light snacks. Of the minuses: 1). Some kind of systemic problem with coffee. For 7 days I managed to drink coffee from the machine 1 time. It broke all the time (judging by the reviews, a very long time ago). Sometimes they took out a coffee pot with a semblance of coffee. It didn’t spoil my vacation in any way, because in the lobby bar of the hotel you can drink espresso for 1 euro or 100 leks. 2). Sweet drinks are chemical, tasteless (I drink water and I didn't care) 3). For 4 * it is very strange to use disposable plastic cups and chopsticks in a restaurant (instead of sugar spoons). The room was cleaned every day. The left dollar disappeared, but did not affect the quality of cleaning. The room was fresh and clean. But we ourselves shook the sand from the chairs on the balcony. Central air conditioning worked fine. The safe at the reception is free (show the card from the room, put your things in a bag, write down the number and clean it). The card is returned. Every other day in the evenings at the pool bar show. Quite decent. To the sea really no more than five minutes. Two sunbeds and an umbrella per room free of charge. You need to take a beach ticket every morning and give it to the beach worker. This is for the whole day. We left the towels and went out for dinner, then calmly returned. The beach is located between the hotels Iliria and Villa Lule (green and yellow *****ed umbrellas). The sea is initially shallow, the bottom is sandy. For the kids, that's it! Yes, there was algae after the storm. But they did not smell, and they were removed after a couple of days. The beach is clean enough. They clean every evening. Early departure. We ordered a lunch box but didn't receive it. There was one bag at the reception. And we were three families. The system is as follows: you warn the administrator a day in advance. He writes down the room number and quantity. It turns out that since the evening they laid out lunch boxes at the reception. Early in the morning, a Polish group left for an excursion and took everything with them. Administrators would need to think about how to label breakfast bags on the go. To be honest, it would be possible to find fault with the little things. I won't. We came to rest. Slept comfortably. Ate tasty. The sea is nearby. The rest is trivia :-)

I do not know on what basis they are awarded stars in Albania, but this one deserves at most one. The rooms are very dusty, the bathroom is dirty. No hot water. The food is the same every day, which wouldn't be a problem for me if it was fresh - here the SAME food from the previous day is reheated every day. At the end of the stay, sausages resembled cracklings, and the bread was so dry that you could hammer nails with it. Plus the food is always cold. In the evening, both the hotel and the entire neighborhood freezes - no attractions in the area, no possibility to spend free time. The hotel is more for older people. Although the hotel has a swimming pool, you cannot use it due to the risk of cutting your leg by falling tiles. In addition, the sunbeds and poufs strongly deter and disgust staying by the pool - they have probably never been cleaned since the opening of the hotel. On the plus side, nice rooms with wifi, comfortable beds and a beautiful view of the sea and the port of Durres. Close to a nice (although littered) beach, where you can use sunbeds free of charge.

The hotel left a very controversial impression. 1. The hotel itself left a rather pleasant impression, high ceilings, spacious rooms, a functional bathroom, a good pool. 2. The staff is beyond praise. 3. The cleanliness of the hotel and rooms is excellent, daily cleaning, frequent change of towels, clean water in the pool. 4. The beach is private and quite clean. Sunbeds and umbrellas are free, but you must first take a ticket at the reception and hand it over to the employee on the beach. 5. Nutrition. I don’t even know ... A huge minus. Actually, it will be difficult to stay hungry, but you won’t be able to get gastronomic pleasure either.
