River Wilderness Waterfront Cabins

Enjoy the screened deck right off your dining area or the boat dock down a set of steps to relax and see wildlife. Convenient location with Island Cafe right across the street for breakfast. Accommodations aren't modern but there is a living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and screened deck. The manager is friendly and even left me a birthday card!

Situated at a nice location right on the river and a large open waterway, this is a wonderfully rustic place to stay in Everglades City. There was plenty of room in the cabin, it was well appointed with everything (and more) that we would need, and clean. The large screened back deck provided a scenic view over the water and the Everglades from where we saw dolphins, many pelicans, osprey, lots of fish jumping, and plenty of undetermined critters - all in wonderful and serene silence. Thank you for giving us New England'ers a good helping of true Southern hospitality!

We had a great 3x nights stay here - initial feeling is that is it a bit old school, but this adds to the charm of the place. We made use of the fishing poles to fish off the communal dock (you can buy bait across the road / next door) - as novices we still caught lots of catfish, snapper and crabs. There a number of laid back restaurants in town, most close by 8pm. Porch was great for breakfast as the sun rises - also grabbed a hearty breakfast from Nely’s Corner at the EFC across the street.

It was our first trip to Everglades City and to this accommodation. The apartment had a great location by the water and the screened in porch was definitely the highlight of the stay, as we had hoped. The furnishings and rooms have seen a few years, so there were a few marks and scuffs, but the place was very clean, and the kitchen had a reasonable amount of equipment. The bed was comfy and the associated swimming pool just down the road was lovely, again right by the water. Check in and check out was friendly, quick and efficient. We really enjoyed being able to use the canoes they provide here. We'd certainly stay here again.

Wonderful place to stay! Loved the enclosed deck to sit and have a meal and watch the wildlife and river. Could use a couple more staples like salt and pepper. But all in all a great place to stay!

My buddy Eric and I have been fishing Choco water for many years. River Wilderness is always our first choice of places to stay. The rooms have really undergone a great transformation, clean and fresh. The convenience is the best! Put my boat right under our room, fresh water and power to charge batteries and flush engines. We love sitting on the porch enjoying the view with some music, a cigar and an adult beverage. HEAVEN! Jaye (the manager), is always so awesome and accommodating…treats us like family. She even invited us to where the locals go (Denise’s Tiki Bar) for good drinks and conversation. We have heated battles of “Ring Game” right at the dock behind the bar and make new friends. Once you go out and catch your fish, take them to Camilla’s for dinner. They cook them to order and add all the fixing for a really fair price…..Camilla’s is the best dinner option in Everglade City. Island Cafe is best for Breakfast. I could go on and on, but you’ll find out for yourself. Just go and be ready to relax. JM

This place was exactly what we hoped for (and needed!) after delays, cancelations and lost luggage on our way to Florida! It was serene, well-located, and morning coffee on the screened porch while the river awakened and the ospreys screeched was idyllic. The staff were helpful in advising us on things to do, and we were walking distance to a couple restaurants and shops. Yes, there is a road on the non-river side of the cabins, and yes, we were blessed with quiet neighbors which might not always be the case. But our stay was perfect and we'd love to come again...for more than 3 nights next time.
