The hotel is under new stewardship this year, having opened at the beginning of May. We weren't staying there but we did call in food, and it was excellent! Everything was freshly cooked, nice and hot, and good quality. The chef doesn't go in for fluffy plate decorations, they want to ensure you leave with a full belly having had good food, and given the rural location that makes perfect sense. There's a static menu as well as daily specials; I had fish pie, which uses fish from just up the road at Mallaig. There's a well-stocked bar too, along with a good selection of whiskies. Everything looked clean, fresh, and overall, very welcoming. We will return.

Stayed a couple of nights in a twin room as part of a walking trip to Scotland. Friendly and efficient service from everyone. Excellent food for breakfast and the evening meals. Good wifi in both the bar and room. Everything was very clean. A few midges were flying around the car park as is traditional for the Scottish Highlands on calm cloudy days in late spring/summer so you may want to consider some insect repellent if they bother you. Wasn’t a problem for me though on this occasion. I would have gladly extended my stay if the inn had not already been fully booked.

We were staying just along the road for four nights and called in every night. The welcome was first class and we decided to have a meal on our last night. We were not disappointed. The prawns were superb, the sole beautifully cooked and the mussels out of this world. The local beers are really good and the staff are friendly and helpful. We understand it’s been closed for a while but we can honestly say that the team is making every effort to create an excellent place to eat and drink. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Lochailort Inn.

Very grumpy Barman and food not worth the price, had the mussels and hotpot, meat chewy on the hot pot and mussels tasted old, not bad but not worth the price, Very grumpy barman who seemed irritable and tired, not sure if an off day but not what was expected, asked for a Guiness and told “NO we only serve local beers” then offered me a can of Guiness which doesn’t really match up with the “local” speech

Stayed here earlier in the year on a solo motorbike trip. The room was brilliant for the price, and the staff were incredibly friendly and couldn't do enough. The atmosphere in the bar was lovely, and ended up having a good few glasses of wine while having a fantastic dinner. Breakfast was great too. Properly relaxing, a lovely night away. Just went to book another night there for another trip, only to find it's closed for the season. Gutted! Will look again for next year :)

We booked a week in advance and with less than 24 hours notice the hotel cancelled our reservation saying they were double booked citing computer problems. There was a token offer of help. As this booking was part of a round trip and we had already set off it caused considerable disruption to our travel plans.

Three generations had a meal here a few days after a family wedding. The staff were helpful and friendly, even the chef found somewhere quiet for the youngest member of the party to have a little sleep. The menu may have been a little restrictive but we have found that wherever we travelled recently. Everyone enjoyed their meals, the only drawback was no white wine was available.
