Facilities: Well-equipped, American-style decor, everything is online and timeless. Hygiene: Established cleanliness, but details like table corners could use more attention. Environment: You can shop, eat, drink, play, and visit a museum all within the hotel. Service: Everyone is on point, and the switchboard processes calls immediately. As the only national brand among China's three platinum five-star hotels, it boasts unique historical and cultural elements, and is a symbol of China's reform and opening-up. Its history and ethos are evident. My first impression during check-in was that everyone was very busy; while check-in was slow, the staff were very pleasant. As a Lingkehui Gold Card member, in addition to a room upgrade, I also received complimentary breakfast and executive lounge access. If room availability allows, late checkout until 2 PM is possible. The hotel has a very high occupancy rate, with many foreign guests and airline crew. There might be some communication gaps between departments like housekeeping and restaurants. This time, my Deluxe King room was upgraded to a Red Kapok King Suite. The room, being older, combined with ongoing government construction nearby, meant the soundproofing was a bit lacking. The extra bed was too soft and a bit uncomfortable, and some other hardware in the room was a bit dated, but it didn't detract too much from the stay. On the first floor, there's an outdoor back garden with a small waterfall, both popular photo spots. I saw many people taking pictures, it was lively. The ornamental fish in the pond were huge. On the 4th floor, there's a free, public Garden Hotel Museum (closed Mondays), which is well worth a visit, explaining the development history of various hotels and just how amazing Garden Hotel is. You really must spend some time exploring it. The gym (well-equipped) and outdoor swimming pool (not heated) are on the other side of the 4th floor, with two squash courts (reservation required). All hotel signage is in Chinese, English, and Japanese. There's currently construction outside the hotel (the typical 'dong dong dong' sound of Guangzhou)... You really should experience our Garden Hotel with its Lingnan characteristics.

The Garden Hotel Guangzhou is, by far, the most satisfying and best value-for-money hotel I've stayed in this year. Staying in a five-star, old-money style hotel is just so comfortable. All the furniture is made of high-quality solid wood, giving the entire hotel an understated yet grand and luxurious feel. The room was incredibly spacious! The front desk upgraded me to a Kapok Suite, which made the experience even better! The entire hotel feels like a classic museum, a true grand garden. There are many dining options, including the Waterfall Restaurant on the 1st floor, Taoyuan Pavilion and Ming Shi Court on the 2nd floor, and the revolving restaurant on the 30th floor (where you can see Canton Tower). Our package included the buffet at the 30th-floor revolving restaurant and dim sum breakfast at Taoyuan Pavilion on the 2nd floor. The view from the 30th-floor restaurant is fantastic! It's a shame it was typhoon weather during my visit; I definitely need to go back on a clear, sunny day next time. The dim sum breakfast was also delicious, and the small dishes were exquisite. The hotel hosts many international guests, and every staff member serves with a smile – it truly is a classic, international-standard 'Old Canton' hotel. Excellent value!

I specifically chose to stay at the Garden Hotel in Guangzhou this time and experienced the full package: guest room, executive lounge, CAN guided tour, and breakfast at the Revolving Restaurant. It truly gave me a taste of what the pinnacle of hotel service in Guangzhou is like. The entire stay was comfortable and reassuring, with no unpleasant surprises, and every aspect exceeded my expectations with its generosity and thoughtfulness. Upon checking in, I had booked a basic room. I paid 20 RMB at the 'Seafood Market' (referring to a loyalty program sign-up) to get a Lingkehui Gold Card. After calling staff beforehand to link my information, I was informed I could get a free upgrade to a Kapok Suite and also receive a welcome fruit platter. It was straightforward and generous, immediately dispelling any concerns I had about formulaic service from an old-established hotel. The upgraded room was spacious, featuring a warm and elegant Lingnan-style wooden design. The bedding was soft and skin-friendly, the bathroom had a separate wet and dry area, and all toiletries were well-stocked. On the first night, I discovered the air conditioner was leaking. After calling service, a staff member arrived within five minutes, promptly fixed the issue, and maintained a polite attitude throughout. Afterwards, the floor supervisor even called to apologize and offered a souvenir. Their immediate response to issues, without shirking responsibility or delaying, and their impressive efficiency were remarkable. The executive lounge on the 4th floor was a major highlight of this trip. During afternoon tea, pastries were continuously replenished, with a limitless supply of various savory and sweet treats. It was quiet and not crowded, perfect for a break and a chat. In the evening, happy hour offered samosas, cold cuts, creamy pasta, and small portions of hot dishes. Although it got a bit noisy during peak hours, staff were always diligent in clearing tables promptly, showing great efficiency and professionalism. The waitresses could even mix 'Cuba Libre' and 'Gin and Tonic,' and I could ask them to prepare drinks. The hotel's exclusive CAN guided tour was a unique experience. The guide led us through the gold foil murals in the lobby, the central courtyard waterfall, and the art collection, meticulously explaining the hotel's forty-plus-year history and the clever touches of Lingnan design. From the golden dragons on the ceiling to the red bridge in the courtyard, every detail had a story. The guide was patient and thorough throughout the explanation, actively stopping for guests to take photos and recommending lesser-known spots within the hotel. The tour was unhurried, and any questions were answered in detail, allowing for a deep understanding of this garden hotel hidden in the city center. The next morning, I went to the Revolving Restaurant on the 30th floor for a buffet breakfast. The 360-degree slowly rotating view offered panoramic cityscapes, with the Canton Tower visible in the distance. The food balanced Cantonese flavors with international cuisine; the freshly steamed shrimp dumplings and Jidi porridge were authentic and delicious, while Western omelets, cold cuts, fresh fruit, and baked goods were all well-stocked. Staff constantly cleared empty plates and proactively refilled drinks, and there was no long wait for window seats, creating a relaxed and pleasant dining atmosphere. From the front desk and room maintenance to executive lounge service, the CAN tour guide, and restaurant staff, everyone I encountered maintained a consistently gentle and polite demeanor. Two things impressed me the most: first, their zero-delay approach to problem-solving, responding swiftly to requests and resolving issues properly; and second, the genuine and generous room upgrade, given without upselling or conditions, purely offering tangible benefits to guests. As a platinum five-star hotel with many years of deep roots in Guangzhou, the Garden Hotel doesn't rely on flashy gimmicks. It earns its reputation through tangible details, efficient service, and generous hospitality. Whether for a short getaway or an extended stay in the city, it provides a stable and comfortable experience. This thoughtfulness and meticulousness truly make it a benchmark for hotel service in Guangzhou. I will definitely choose it again on my next visit to Guangzhou.

The room was clean and there were many staff members who were enthusiastic and attentive. Downstairs at breakfast, as soon as you finished a plate, someone quickly came to clear it away. Every day when we left, there was always a staff member at the elevator asking if we wanted our room cleaned. Great service! The waterfall was also beautiful.

Excellent service! Convenient location! Beautiful surroundings, and a fantastic breakfast spread. Both the 30th-floor revolving restaurant and the 1st-floor Waterfall Restaurant are delicious. I especially recommend the 1st-floor Waterfall Restaurant for its freshly made shrimp dumplings and rice rolls – a big thumbs up to the chef! We also received a complimentary afternoon tea on the 4th floor!

Had an amazing birthday experience at the Garden Hotel! A big thank you to the front desk staff, particularly Xiao Hui, for upgrading me to a suite. The complimentary cake from the hotel was a lovely and thoughtful touch. The dining service was excellent, and the pool, gym, and sauna facilities were all available, ensuring a comfortable and relaxing stay throughout. I'll definitely choose this hotel again next time I visit.

Great service and an incredibly convenient location. The only downside was the outdoor pool; it was raining when I visited, so I couldn't swim. The hotel's own guided tour was excellent and very informative.

The buffet food was incredibly fresh and delicious, with many high-end ingredients. The staff spoke and understood Cantonese, which really showcased the Kwong Fu culture. I'll definitely come back next time; it felt very welcoming. Excellent service and quality.

This is a truly conflicted review. On one hand, for us Cantonese born in the 80s, the Garden Hotel is one of the quintessential ideal hotels, a place we’ve always aspired to. But on the other hand, its outdated facilities, weak service consciousness, and inability to keep up with modern times are clearly its Achilles' heel. I checked into the Garden Hotel for the first time with immense anticipation, but my excitement instantly turned to disappointment upon seeing the room. The fabric on the armchair was velvety, the single sofa was leather, and a Chinese-style round drum table was awkwardly placed in the middle, while a different style of small table held a lamp next to it. It felt very mismatched, or perhaps, a hodgepodge. I'm truly astonished that a platinum five-star hotel would have such a level of room decor. What was even more unacceptable was finding two long, dark hairs near the magazines on the desk by the window. The sloppiness of the hygiene truly shocked me. The toilet in the bathroom was also a relic from a bygone era, without a heated seat. Nowadays, even a random B&B or small hotel has sensor-flush toilets, so I was surprised the Garden Hotel was still so 'nostalgic.' I've heard that the guest rooms are gradually being renovated. I hope that after the renovations, it will offer us a completely new and improved experience, especially since we Cantonese still have an emotional connection to the Garden Hotel.
