Amber Youth Art Hotel (West Lake Scenic Area)

If all hostels in China were like this one, I’d be more than satisfied! The location is very convenient, the staff wants to help, the common room is big and very nice; there’s a balcony; there’s a room only for toilets and another one only for showers (women and men separated, so four in total), so I didn’t have to wait to pee or to take my shower; and soap and shampoo are given. (But bring your flip flops!) And the room! I was with three other people but it didn’t feel crowded, there’s more than enough space to put the luggage (and it’s easily accessible), to access the upper berth we use stairs instead of a ladder (which is safer and more convenient), the bed wasn’t hard, the curtains effectively block any light, etc. Needless to say that I had a great sleep! Negative points: hard to find the hostel (so maybe don’t arrive too late because you won’t be able to ask people for directions), no fridge and no umbrellas. The most negative point in my opinion is the lack of ventilation in the showers, it felt like the Amazonian jungle each time I entered the room. But the positive points definitely outweigh the negative ones. I definitely recommend this hostel!

Neat hostel, clean and well equipped. I had difficulties finding the place as there isn't any english signs in the huge building and there's many floors and many hotels in the same building. Reception is on 5th floor and at least some rooms are on 6th. But overall nice and the reception helped me and booked a train on the official chinese website I have no chance on navigating by myself.
