Disappointing Stay at a Marriott Property – Poor Housekeeping & Communication We stayed at the Courtyard King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel for 3 nights in June 2025, and it was unfortunately the worst hotel experience of our entire Hawaii trip. Despite being a Marriott property, the room was never cleaned during our entire stay. We checked in on June 6 and noticed the coffee machine was broken on the 7th. We assumed housekeeping would handle it—but nothing was cleaned or fixed. When I called the front desk, I was told housekeeping is only available every other day—something that was never mentioned at check-in. By the 8th night, the room was still a mess, the coffee machine still broken, and the shower had flooded the bathroom floor due to poor design. We also noticed a dead bug on the lamp that stayed with us throughout the trip and a malfunctioning AC monitor that made adjusting the temperature impossible. I tried to raise these concerns again when we checked out early on the 9th. The front desk apologized and said they’d follow up with a compensation plan—but it’s now been over a month with no response. That lack of follow-through is shocking from a Marriott. Even the concierge service—outsourced to a third party—was unhelpful. I strongly recommend not booking anything through them. This hotel was not the cheapest, but it was easily the worst value of all the places we stayed across Honolulu, Maui, and Big Island. I expect much better from Marriott and will think twice before booking with them again.

Good location Room is comfortable 

We had to live the next day. Very noisy room area no recommended for families.

Small but lovely beach inside the hotel grounds. Snorkel gears and beach chairs available to rent free of charge for hotel guests. Not too far from the airport, but the public buses are confusing and impossible to use.

Housekeeping service was every other day but no one came to serve our room. The bathroom door didn't have any and in fact didn't close properly. We were told the pool will be under construction but glad that it was not under construction. We were not told about breakfast time ends at 10:00 am but it ended at 8:30 am due to Easter brunch, that was not communicated. Other than these issues, the location is very good, with pool and beach access, staff is good too.

Daily house keeping service had to be requested. When requested it often wasn’t completed. Hotel was showing its age but overall safe and clean and in a great location.

For the price point, the hotel was not up to par. The four days we were there, we didn’t have any maid service. The bath had no fan/vent. Location was good. Lighting was not good (or maybe just wasn’t working) — not sure.

It was great experience with this hotel. It has a pool and beach in front of the hotel. The staff was very kind and gave us warm welcome. The hotel was old fashion and The water pressure is low in the bathroom.

Staff super friendly and helpful! Location was perfect! Room was comfortable! Worked out great for our trip to Disneyland!

Nice people and so helpful

The location is good, right by the sea🏝️, there is a swimming pool at the door, and the sea is more than ten meters ahead. The sea water is crystal clear. There are special snorkeling and boating courses. There are many supermarkets around, ABC store is right at the door, and there are target and safeway not far away

There are various cafes and restaurants around the hotel, so I thought it was a great location. The room was clean, and the view from the room was great, with an ocean view! There is also a restaurant in the hotel, which we used when we came back a little late from sightseeing and the surrounding restaurants were closed. The menu had a wide variety of items, and the staff were very helpful.

The location is good and the beach is right in front so it was good for swimming. There are many restaurants around so you don't have to order hotel breakfast. Parking fee is charged separately.

The hotel is in a good location, close to the beach. There is a free bus at the door that goes directly to DT. It is very convenient for those who don't rent a car. The hotel front desk service is also very good. There is also a swimming pool for guests to use. The disadvantage is that this hotel is cleaned once every two days. If you have food or other garbage, try to take it out by yourself, otherwise it will smell in hot weather. The hotel facilities are a bit old, so don't have too high expectations.
