Hôtel Le Cro-Magnon

Myself and 7 friends spent 4 nights in the Hotel Cro Magnon while on a cycle tour in Dordogne and were very pleased with all aspects of our stay - the rooms, breakfasts, fine dining and the friendly and personal attention of the owners and staff. Definitely a highlight of our trip and I agree with the 5 star rating from other travelers.

Rudd and Jan were extremely kind, friendly and efficient hosts. They work very hard in meeting all your needs. They were so helpful to us in arranging a taxi to our next location and letting us wait around the pool area until our bikes and luggage could be picked up and we could then take a taxi. The breakfast was excellent and filling, the dinner prepared by Jan was delicious and there is no need to eat anywhere else in town! Very comfortable bed and very quiet so we slept very well!

A perfect small hotel (15 rooms) for a relaxing holiday. Although it is an old house, built into the rocks, it is very well maintained inside and out, and rooms and bathrooms have been modernized to a very comfortable standard (we especially loved the good beds and the shower). Extremely delicious dinner (we ate there every day), prepared by one half of the hosting couple, and large breakfast.Well situated for exploring the area. Unfortunately it lies at a main road, so during the day there is quite a bit of traffic there, but the nights are quiet. We had a room to the back and were not disturbed by any noises. Extremely kind and helpful hosts (speaking four languages) and staff. We felt right at home almost as soon as we arrived. Thank you very much, Ruud and Jan! If we should ever be in the area again, we would certainly want to stay at Le Cro Magnon.

A lovingly run hotel in the pretty village of Les Eyzies de Tayak. The proprietors do everything to make the stay relaxed, and the surroundings, including the pool and outdoor area certainly contribute. The breakfast buffet was lovely, served in the stylishly decorated breakfast room. The hotel nestles into the impressive rock face where just a few metres away the first modern human, Cro Magnon, was discovered. The village is Prehistory central, and this alone is fairly awe inspiring. The hotel happily bridges the gap between tradition and modern living. We will come back.

Just one word: AMAZING! Go there and be spoiled! Eat, sleep, enjoy, repeat! Eat there as much as you can. The menu is delicious and changes every few days. Also for the children they make excellent food! The hosts are the sweetest! Lots to do in the surrounding. Go swimming in the pool or in the river just across the street! Nice waterfall and rope to swing!

Ruud & Jan not only made their dream come true, but also and especially that of their customers. Impeccable service, perfect welcome, good breakfast and tasty regional dishes in the restaurant. Highly recommended and Jan & Ruud will continue to do so. Greetings Erik & Denis
